"Peak America": Discarded Bags and Chaos Outside Capitol One Arena on Trump Inauguration Day (2025)

On Inauguration Day in January 2025, a man suggests to another man collecting high-end purses-left behind by Trump supporters who couldn't bring them into the Capitol One Arena-that the bags could be sold for profit. He even remarks that homeless individuals should come down to make money by selling the discarded items.
The scene captures blocks of garbage and personal belongings abandoned by thousands of people who braved freezing temperatures overnight to attend the event, even though outdoor activities had been canceled due to the extreme cold for their safety.
Amid the piles of trash and evidence of excessive consumerism, one onlooker summed it up perfectly: "This is Peak America."
This video was captured on a GoPro as I worked as a journalist documenting the scene outside the jail. I have uploaded this footage to provide an unfiltered look at the moment.
