Great review (and film work on it)! For aligning the lens to the Clip fast and accurately, put a very small square of colored 1/2" gaffer tape (i use neon green) on both the Capture entry point, as well as on the lens barrel entry point. Line up both green squares, and you can quickly lock the lens into the Clip in a matter of a second, even in the dark (since you can feel the rough texture of the tape). Very easy method which i use for all my lenses to quickly attach them to my camera body.

Was curious about this, but the fact that you're still happy with it after a few months give me a lot of peace of mind. Gonna buy one of these today.

This thing looks soooo helpful for me because I only have 3 prime lenses... no others... just primes. "changing lenses quickly" is not a phrase I generally use.

How to prevent dust go into the lens? The thing is collecting dust when it is not covered by a lens, and when you connect a lens and turn upside down , the dust will be dump into the lens, right?

That's a very good point!

Also wish they had a mount for three lenses. I shoot with two primes and one wide angle zoom lens. So I occasionally swap between the three lenses. And it can be a hassle. If only they had a trangular mount for three lenses. Id love that

I have this and i use it on my belt all the time. its great. BUT, what if Im not wearing a belt that day, or my pants dont allow for a belt. Thinking of using the strap, but then Id have two straps, one for the lenses and the camera. Wouldnt that just be cumbersome? If I have two lenses attached, will it bounce? Will it poke you in annoying spots?

Hi David. I don’t have any peak design products but I am looking for a good lens holder for myself. Which of these would you suggest for me to buy? Peak design lens capture or tri lens from friidesigns? Or any other which I haven’t considered yet. As of now, I primarily carry only two lenses.

Dude, how do you not have more subscribers? This video was very well done and very informative. I have a Capture Lens in the mail and just wanted to see the pros/cons so I knew what to expect. Glad I saw this video, in fact, you earned my subscription. I don't normally subscribe to a channel that I only watch one video from, but if any of your future videos are similar to the quality of this one, I will be glad I did. Trying to get over 1000 subscribers myself at the moment and am currently needing just 6 more! Thanks again for putting in so much effort to this video. I feel inspired to do the same with my next videos.

Great video David - thanks for sharing. Did you ever find an issue with the capture lens system getting dust into your lenses? I'd say that's my primary concern. I know you could use those caps - but I'm sure it'll be too much hassle for me to bother. This product is meant to save time and I don't see myself taking the time to put on extra caps. Cheers Stefan
@DavidVogt7 жыл бұрын
Hey Stefan, I haven't found any issues with dust so far, but I'm also not super particular about it. I also haven't used the caps at all, since I usually have a lens on each end for storage.
@stefansmuts88827 жыл бұрын
Sounds good. I'm thinking of getting it. Thanks for getting back to me.
@jfeed1777 жыл бұрын
I think it's more to look like they are adding value to a $50 item that's mostly plastic and probably costs $5 to manufacture overseas. The caps probably cost $.15 wholesale, so it's something to easily toss in. Wish the entire clip unit was metal though.

Hello. Thank you for a review. Is it good for 70-200, 2.8. Is it not too heavy?

i think a messenger bag is easier. you can just drop off the lens in their when changing. no alignment problem and the fear of banging your lens anywhere.
@DavidVogt7 жыл бұрын
I think in many cases you're right. However, I often find myself shooting in spaces where the bag would bump into things/people and I'm just more nimble with the lens clip.

My biggest concern by far, when I look at this device, is that my lenses are just out in the open uncovered, and worse: right at my hip where I can bump them or be bumped: Ignoring limbs, the hip would be first or second widest point out from one's vision (beyond possibly the shoulder), and the second most concealed point from one's view beyond their backside (under arm, down low, peripheral edge)...probably that's why we bump our hips/legs into things more than anything else. The hip is also the most motion-driven portion of the main body...it's a freely and regularly articulating portion of one's non-limb anatomy, thus combining both the risk of motion and the difficulty of adjusting one's most-learned motor-functions [walking] into a new muscle-memory paradigm...which is another aid to bumping and clumsiness. Hard to see how it doesn't just bang against one's stride in fact. The hip is either not clothed thickly (thin shorts, thin dress or skirt) which would make this whole getup ride uncomfortably against the skin...or one is wearing jeans or such, in which case we have an expanse of the body with minimal nerve endings and touch sensitivity, yet heavily clothed, thus minimizing even tactile feedback and passive cognitive awareness. Ergo more bumping. Then there is crouching or sitting with an object that extends towards the floor, any seat, one's backside... But with all this you're saying you *prefer* this device when in tight spaces, and that you bump *less*? Do you mean for your own body's freedom-of-movement (it is smaller than a messenger bag) versus the security of the setup itself, or do you mean the above points all matter less than I anticipate?
