cool review, more or less what i was looking for. one question: the V2 plate fits the V3 back plate but not the other way around, is it because they have different dimensions, or because the locking pin is shaped differently? thanks.

The v2 can’t fit the new standard v3 plate. I got the v3 dual plate so it works with my v2.

I guess the V3 doesn't fit on the ThinkTank Capture Adapture belt given it's size? Do you feel the new plate slides into the lock easier than V2?

Yeah I would say there’s less wiggle room on the V3 so the plate doesn’t rattle as much. And the material is smoother so it feels more satisfying to snap the plate in

@@danielsin I heard the base plate is more rouned so it slides in easier. I wonder if the same base plate slides easier into version 2 as well? It might mean you just need a new camera base plate rather than buying the whole new clip.

At the right angle, they both slide in like butter. Throughout my time of using it I would get the V3 only because it doesn’t dig into my shoulder/arm. I noticed even small things I do like fixing my shoe, I can feel the V2. Both operate well and perfectly do their job. But I think the physical size of the V3 matters the most to me

You didn't think that mentionning the 1/4 screw mount on the v2 was important? It's not on the v3

That's only on the pro version of v2 which is not in this video.

You need specific peak design plates for it to work. But the peak design plates can snap on to any tripod as long as it’s an arca Swiss quick release

You would need the dual plate from V3 to work with V2. The standard V3 plate would not work with the V2.

yo, important thing i’ve been trying to figure out: does the joby gorillapod 5k plate work with the v3 ?? i’ve been trying to figure this out if i could slide the joby head into the v3, but as of now not even peak design has replied to my email i sent asking them.

if the joby is arca swiss compatible then it should be fine.

AKASIS i figured it out, the peak design works wih the joby tripod. the joby tripod doesn’t work with peak design’s mount though

Is it OK for the plate to be mounted 24/7? I bought the v3, I really like it, but was wondering if it's ok for the plate to stay there, or I need to dismount it from time to time?

I always have my plate mounted and never take it off unless I need to

Why don't you attach the anchor to the plate instead of the capture clip?

It gets in my way when I try to put it on to my quick release plates. I know it can still be done but it gets annoying/ to long when going from tripod, monopod, and gimbal all the time.

This things are extremely uncomfortable for heavy lenses, it is better to use a strap.
