(referencing other comments) I can hear you fine and the video was very useful and to the point. I don't care about the lighting, as it's not the purpose of the video. So tired of all these perfect lighting videos that fail to deliver on the content itself. Thanks for making this.

how do you detach the centre column from the normal ball head?

Adam, can the read turn "to take panoramas" without loosening the ball head ? ie if you have leveled the head and can turn it .. while keeping it level without having to risk it getting out of alignment?
@photog15295 жыл бұрын
No, it cannot. You'd need to adapt a "real" ballhead with a panning base.

This seems like quite a hassle to replace. Makes sense if one wants to ONLY use a third party head, but not if you want to alternate (use the original head for travel and lightweight stuff, for instance, and a better head for more advanced tasks requiring panning for instance). Doens't it make more sense to simply attach the 3rd party ballhead to an arcaswiss plate? then it's simply plugging it into the original ballhead. The original ballhead can be used as a leveling plate (also has a little bubble). Do you see any potential problem with that?

Ofer Maor personally, I would see leaving the Third Party Tripod bead connected to the universal head mount adapter without the extension center column. This means that it is paoosible to change between the two options toollessley (I made that word up, to mean without tools) The above video simply tries to show all of the options, especially for those who might use the Universal Adapter over and above our mechanism.

For Sure Ofer, I've put some photos of this on my Flickr Account I've provided a couple of photos of an option to add a head to the original ballhead using a 1/4 20 to 3/8ths adapter on my Flickr Pages, flic.kr/p/25obayK flic.kr/p/2fVcr6Y (It's a "Hicksy Hack") flic.kr/p/2fZMMua (Universal Head Adapter with Video Head)

I can't seem to find an answer... the peak design spec sheet says the cam-levers/leg clamps are made with aluminium, is that true? or it's just plastic?
@charliebrownfazer5 жыл бұрын
Bernie Chai the leg clamps are aluminium, there is a KZbin commenter Kane13077 who is spreading misinformation on as many of our Tripod Reviews as they can, I’m not sure of their motivation, but the vigour of the comments is interesting. The part which was “thought” to be plastic, is actually blue threadlock, which is used on the screws on the leg cams.

@@charliebrownfazer That is my biggest concern, i need it to be as robust as possible before i spend 730 aud on it hahaha. Thanks man.

Agree with Ron Star. Waaaaay more views if we could hear you without headphones or exterior speakers. And the "horror" lighting. Butttt, ... never give up. Thanks.

The adapter is just something else to get lost or misplaced. Why not just make the clamp on the ballhead fully ARCA-Swiss compatible in the first place? The PD tripod may look good aesthetically, but it would appear to be impractical for several reasons (1) need to raise the center column to actually use the ballhead, (2) no panning ability, (3) must cantilever camera to the side to shoot in portrait orientation (which will require having to recompose the scene). Then, there's the whole 5-section leg thing. Personally, I think the PD tripod is more gimmicky than it is practical, especially at that price point. Adapting a "real" ballhead will just add to the $600 cost. WAy too much to fiddle with. Not impressed, but I'm sure some will be.

Need to design a shorter centre column for those of us who often shoot low to the ground.
@charliebrownfazer5 жыл бұрын
The center column does not protrude past the bottom of the hub mechanism if you don’t reattach the lower center column section, see the end of the video for the length.

The carbon fiber model is $600. Too much money, considering the tripod's shortcomings.
