I want to tell you something about myself my grandmother told me I was Scotch Irish my maiden name was Stewart and every time I hear Fiddle music it moves me deeply inside my soul as if I used to live in Scotland or Ireland and play the fiddle over 100 years ago I became obsessed with learning the fiddle and I’m just so glad to find you as a teacher

This tune, does take me across the high seas, in my imagination. I was actually out in the sea, in a dangerous situation before, and a tune, did help me to get through it. It was in 1979, and coincidentally, the year I began to play the violin. I was about 4 kilometers off shore, in a small sail boat. The winds were quite strong, and the swells of the ocean, were higher than the mast of the sailboat. All I could think of, was the song by Gordon Lightfoot, called, "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald." That was a tune, about a large cargo ship that went down, in Lake Superior, which is the worlds largest lake. I grew up, sailing on Lake Michigan, which connects to it. I thought I was a good sailor, so wasn't afraid to go why out in the ocean. Luckily, I made it back to shore OK. And recently, I heard that a boat sank in the same area, with 2 people drowned, and 8 missing. So now when I hear this tune, and play it, I have positive thoughts and emotions. I'm glad I survived, and the song helped me to do so. Thanks for posting it.

I love this tune with the double stops -they are some tricky fingering -taking some time

As well thank this very fine fiddler and teacher for what he's providing for us here ........regards someone's comment about the tune being in G not C as Peak has stated .The scale for G has an F# this is clearly in C as the teacher says.

Nice sounding tune. Thanks. (To the key commenters) It doesn't matter what key you want to play it in, if your playing by ear so what.

Do you have a link to notation available? Thanks!

KZbin have reduced the clarity of the notation I had been posting in the community section, which makes it unreadable. I have included this in my notation booklet, soon to be published.

Nice tune, the key is G not C though.

I am aware that the first chord is a G and yes, I could have notated this tune with F naturals all the way through and said it was in G, but as this is a teaching video on how to play this tune, I chose C, to keep it simple.

@@peakfiddler I don't think one accidental is too much for people to remember, it does get hard to remember when it moves to 3, 4, 5 plus. Seems more strange to notate a piece which is in G, in the key signature of C without transposing the piece to C also. It would seem best to notate the piece in the key of the piece whatever accidentals that entails.
