This is really interesting. Thanks for presenting it and I hope we will see more of this, as I think that this App can be of huge interest for a lot of photographers. 👍👍🙏

If you look closely at 3:03-3:06 you'll notice, those aren't iterations of the same photo. Very similar, but the water's different. I love the idea of being able to spot duplicates of my photos, but it has to work flawlessly, as I want this feature to delete unnecessary duplicates. Btw: Cyme claims "no more duplicates" as a feature for Peakto on their site - are you able to delete duplicates right from Peakto?

Interesting idea but no support for windows. I dont see any features for culling in the videos. While i dont have a Mac it will be interesting to see how they evolve.

I wonder if this might be an easy solution to get my favourite Lightroom images to be used for my MacOS screensaver

Honestly I just create a folder on my drive (which is an external SSD) for each catalog inside of a master folder (at the root level) called "Catalogs". This keeps the drive clean, and I can take catalog on the road with me and have all of them with me, versus storing them on a particular computer's internal drive, which is tedious and time consuming to backup and restore (and runs the risk of accidentally overwriting a catalog that has newer edits in it). But yes keep all catalogs in one place. I'm surprised that Adobe hasn't come up with a program that can act like a browser for a LR Catalog that might let you export your images and search/browse them but that's it (and this would be for those who either have received an exported catalog or for photographers to quickly look for an image and export it to say a JPEG without having to load full blown LR Classic). I know with Lightroom (cloud) you can sync some or all of your photos and LR Classic does offer some online syncing functions but I'm thinking this could be more for people who travel and maybe want to view and export JPEG files on the fly without having to have full LR Classic installed.

Honestly, I think Peakto is hands down much better for those of us with photos in different photo editing software catalogs scattered across several external and internal drives. I am giving it a trial run and it is now "ingesting" and doing its thing to get ALL my photos viewable. I am on a 2021 M1 24" iMac and it's taking quite some time for Peakto to get its peaks together for my thousands of photos scattered all over the place (Two 8TB external hard drives and one 4TB external drive).

Peakto can support this type of organization too and give you additional insight using the "Panorama" feature. We will be working on a mobile companion, so you will also be able to bring a lightweight preview of all your images in your pocket. Stay tuned !

Can you use pixelmator pro with it?
@cymematt89032 жыл бұрын
You can launch PixelMator pro from any file. We don't yet support generating a preview from PXB documents but it will be added at some point in the near future.

I bought it. Installed it and it constantly crashed on my M1 Max based Mac Studio. Importing the Lightroom catalog took a very long time and it kept crashing trying to import my Apple Photos. I gave up, requested and received a refund. Not quite ready for prime time now. They promised a major new release "soon".
@GordonCato2 жыл бұрын
I cancelled it. I found it took forever to import my lightroom catalog and was very slow and lagging on my M1 Mac mini with 16 Gigs Ram. I also didn’t like the interface. For example, in the filmstrip view I couldn’t’t scroll the filmstrip at the bottom with my mouse wheel like I can in Lightroomm. I had to click and hold the scroll bar and move it back and forth.
@cymematt89032 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment about the filmstrip. We will add it to our list. Regarding performances, we are about to release an update that fixes a number of lags and especially the import of data. Our benchmark is that importing 1000images takes between 60s and 90s (M1 Mac, slow drive) depending on the source (Files, Aperture, LR). The behaviour is more or less linear i.e ingesting 100,000 images will take 6000-9000s

Culling photos is coming soon. The 1.0 release was concentrating on aggregating content, displaying and search. Annotating and culling images will be introduced in a forthcoming update with a dedicated UI and UX. Please note that in some situations the flags and annotations set in Peakto will be propagated back to the host app (it is not always possible for some apps) mainly using sidecars but sometimes using other techniques but without ever touching the original catalog file.

@@19Photographer76 Unfortunately not. We are a small team and adding Windows support is currently not on our roadmap. But we look forward to do it in the future.
