It's weird how everyone is so quick to blame Tommy for the vendetta when it was John who started it by cutting the younger Changretta brother for dating Lizzie. John and Arthur also spared the mom who went off to America and told Luca everything.

I think it's because when confronted about John's actions Tommy pretty much let it go instead of having John apologize which is what Polly and Arthur wanted to simmer things down. John may have started it but Tommy escalated it when by not having John say he is sorry.

He decided to leave Peaky Blinders because he felt that there was really no direction Jon could truly develop further - plus he wanted to do other projects. Michael Grey is Finn Cole's first serious professional role. After Peaky Blinders Finn goes to "J" Cole in Animal Kingdom. And that is where you see what a talent Finn Cole truly is. Both the Cole brothers is superb. And again - please review Animal Kingdom after Peaky Blinders.

Nearly threw the bloody TV out the window when they shot John. Was absolutely devastated.

People think killing the wife would have prevented this, but Luca would still know who was responsible for his parents’ deaths and seek revenge. He would not know so much about them, but he would have pursued them and might have taken longer to make a move. Also, the shooting happened on Christmas not Boxing Day, so not sure how Esme is responsible. If they walked to the car right then, still shot, if they go inside, they enter house and still go after them possibly killing Esme, Mickey, and kids.

small note. that pistol that had the holster turn into a stock is the german made Mauser C96 Broomhandle, a full auto machine pistol. its holster was specifically designed to be attached to the gun as a stock for improved accuracy. that same gun is also the base gun for han solo's original blaster.

One thing I appreciate about John's death scene is how it establishes the threat. Even if he hadn't died there, the power disparity between one guy with a rifle representing the Blinders and a whole bunch of dudes with automatic weapons would've told the audience the Italians are extremely dangerous because they don't play in the dark, they will shoot up the block in broad daylight.

Also, they were ordered to kill Changretta by Tommy but they caused the vendetta by leaving his wife(their teacher) alive. So they essentially caused this BS by second guessing Tommy yet again!
