I do something similar but I use extra crunchy peanut butter because we like the little bits of nuts mixed in with the rice crispies. I also "loosen up" a tub of chocolate frosting in the microwave for a bit and then pour/spread over top and refrigerate - we call them Reese's peanut butter krispies My wife and I made a ton of these for our kids when they were growing up and now they make them for their kids.

Yum!!! I tend to not make rice crispy treats anymore because I like them WAY too much!! Adding peanut butter would make them even more irresistible!. If you want to take them up a notch, once they’re cool, pour a thin layer of melted chocolate chips over the top.

In my house, we just call these Rice Krispy Treats. My mom always used peanut butter. I won't Make them without it. ❤

Tip for measuring peanutbutter and shortening. In a 2 cup measuring cup add 1 cup of water, add your peanut butter until it says 1.5 cups. Just scoop out the peanutbutter and you have less mess and waste.
