How would you re pot one of these. I have one I got that belonhed to my great grandmother after he passing. Its 40 plus years old. Been in same pot atleast 15 years. For first tiME EVER its bloomed. It had a great winter with little to no heat and it's stunning. BUT im worried about needing to re pot would like to go up in size but afraid I'll cause many of the trailings to fall off.

They are easy enough to repot. The segments will root easily enough if gently pushed into soil.

Steve Andrews ive never repotted a cactus. I'm researching soil types now. What have you found to be best for the peanut? I live in Texas USA. We have lots of dry dry heat. I keep it indoors as its entire life it has been indoors in a window seal.

I have to admit I am very unprofessional when it comes to guidelines for growing plants, though I have had a lot of success. I tend to use any general-use potting compost and mix some sand in with it, as well as putting some crocks for drainage at the bottom of the pot. The Peanut Cactus is very tough. It is built to grow from bits that fall off the main plant.

Steve Andrews thank you so so MUCH! Ive admired this play my entire life. I had two they both were started with my great grandmother. One went to my mom and one to my grandmother who both also have passed on in the last 2 years. Upon taking on these peanuts that again are well over 40 yrs old I had zero idea how to care for them properly. The one that I had gotten that my mom continued care for was extremely large and Unfortunatly before her passing she had fallen and it got knocked over a few times. With all going on it wasn't properly cared for or placed into new pot or soil not to mention I watered it loads not knowing that in winter you dont water. Sadly I killed it rather reviving it. So this one that I have now thats again be through generations is so special all the same and I'm desperate for all help and advice your response is so so appreciated. It amazes me that my entire life its NEVER NEVER bloomed and learning that it needed no water during winter with this one it has begun blooming. So incredible. I'm doing SOMETHING right, am afraid to re pot but know it desperately needs some fresh soil.
