When the pigments are in flakes, the particles are stuck together, leaving little to no space among them. When crushed, there is space between each small pigment dust. So, even though it seems like space between flakes is diminished after crushing, the total space among the pigment dust actually increases :) Edit: if you slightly tap the bottom of the container or tap it on the table, the pigment dust will sit denser and most likely you can still fit the whole thing in the tube! Great video as always, thank you for such enjoyable content :D

Dear Pearfleur, The golden yellow, looks and sounds like honeycomb, we have a chocolate bar here called Crunchie or Violet Crumble, that colour, that sound with chocolate wrapped around it. Violet Crumble is the best. Thanks for ASMR, really need it now. :) In kindred spirit Eliza, Dulwich Hill, Australia x 30th September 2021, 7:36pm PS I collect watercolours that are handmade from all over the world, your video makes me want to mull my own pigments. I just looked up the pigment shop in Japan. However, last week I got paint everywhere, just putting "tube paint into pans", and I said to myself, "I may like collecting colours, but it is very fiddly, messy and annoying to pour paint (let alone make it), thanks Pearfleur for showing us the romance, with no clean up! This video is incredible and amazing. I cannot emphasize how much I love this video. I REALLY appreciate how you showed step by step making the pigments, getting them ready, and making the paint. Especially for watercolor paint because there's a couple more steps to making watercolor paint than with oil paint. Oil paint is literally just a plant based drying oil and the pigment and there you go! I really appreciated how you showed the use of honey, Gum Arabic as the binding agent, and the water as well as the natural preservative. And I REALLY loved the paint afterwards. It didn't feel like a speedpaint. I felt like I got to actually enjoy every single step of your painting process and the painting after was so beautiful. What a rewarding video every step of the way.
