The security tour guide said while awaiting the boat, "This isn't Disneyland, this is a memorial. Please be courteous, and observe the silence."

Had the honor of being able to see the Arizona back in 2003 when I was coming back from deployment on the USS Constellation. We made a port visit at Pearl Harbor before heading back to San Diego. One of the most solemn experiences of my life. Watching the oil continuing to slowly leak out of the Arizona, like she is still bleeding from the wounds she received that day in 1941, really makes you think about the destruction of that day and the lives that were lost.

Lovely video. I did not get to see all of the other sunken ships while I was there in 1988. Thanks for posting.

I was in Honolulu one year in 2015, I got the opportunity to check out the Pearl Harbor memorial, but never got the chance to get a close look inside U.S.S. Arizona due to the heavy wind current. But it was a memory I won’t forget, visiting the beautiful Hawaii and the History

Thank Elvis for contributing $$ to finish the project.
My Godfather was on the USS Vestal that was tied to the USS Arizona on December 7th, 1941. He was on deck when the attack started. He was tossed overboard by the concussion of the Japanese bomb that struck the powder magazine! He was pulled back onto the Vestal and grabbed a axe to cut the lines to the Arizona. The Vestal was under full power and attempted to get away from the burning Arizona. The Captain of the Vestal deliberately ran the Vestal aground so not to get sunk in the channel blocking the other Navy ships. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Vestal

My uncle, Lester Silva, was aboard the USS Detroit on that fateful day and was one of the first to be wounded in the attack. Fortunately for him, he survived and lived a long life. God bless the men who perished that day - and their families. ❤
