This show is even better than the album version of the songs. The sad words in his expression of singing going into the reverb, slower tempo and the instruments used give another texture. Hits so strong. I adore this Pearl Jam version, gives a mature vibe in the approach of the songs, like sitting there telling stories from his whole life, not wanting to scream anymore. A legacy. (Favorite track: Nothing as It Seems)

I believe there's a line in the PJ20 book that either Jeff or Mike were at a Grateful Dead show. In the audience they recalled the reaction the fans had towards b-sides and rather obscure songs, cheering for them as if they were another hit, or regular song. And whichever PJ member it was (jeff or mike) they thought: "That's success". I think it's safe to say Pearl Jam's found that success themselves.

It's a good version of Black but I still think the best version is from their MTV Unplugged session...if you haven't heard it I suggest you listen to it right now...and then listen to it again and again and again. Perfection!

maccas81 I have had heard the MTV unplugged version thoudsand of time. Moreover, I play Black along with that version on my guitar, it is a good one. However, this one is my favorite live version. Definitely the best for my, the crowd singing with the band is just perfection, it adds a particular energy to the performance. I respect your opinion, though.

Mika Tiger So true. That kinda happen with all my favorite songs. Specially in this days with so many version going around in youtube. However this one is really special to me. Because of the crowd singing, they are like a choir. It sound like they have rehearsed with the band for that moment. When I hear them i wish I could be one of that voices singing with PJ.
