Some bands rearanged songs for Unplugged, took that oportunity to showcase different expressions etc. Pearl Jam just plugged in and did what they do :p. And it was one of the greatest ever. Nirvana is an example of a band that did something special and different, also one of the best, if not the best, there ever was. Yeah I was a massive fan of unplugged, taped everything I could get my hands on.

I think when he holds that long note after that line, goes up an octave, and then hits the cry-out is the best part. He scratches it a bit here, but in the studio version, and in other live performances, it's belted out without falter. That said, I think the song was always better unplugged.

Eddie's passion, emotions, feelings...GOODNESS. Watch Pearl Jam's "Jeremy" official music video, the second part (or maybe simply the whole video) and watch his reflection of Jeremy's likely real emotions with his struggle of being bullied before he ended his life. Eddie is amazing conveying feeling, emotion and passion, and he did amazing in that video conveying Jeremy's frustration, confusion, anger, insecurity, stress, depression and pain. "Jeremy" is based on an actual event, where the teen shot and killed himself in front of his class. Eddie Vedder is outstanding, for me, Pearl Jam were the best of the 1990's in all popular music, Mariah Carey a close second.

I'm not sure it will happen now due to how manufactured, and idealistically rote, all artistic industries are these days. The dystopian future we were warned about for decades is here. Almost 30 years later and this song still gives me goosebumps. I could go on and on about PJ and Ten. Eddie is a living god to me. This song in particular though. Listened it on repeat one night. After 3 bowls and 2 bottles of MD 20/20, we burned out the cd player.

This was way back when MTV actually played "Live music", way before your time Shiloh. Actually Bon Jovi did an acoustic set, which started MTV Unplugged, just him and Richie Sambora. Which launched their career and then countless others. Great song and great reaction. Listen to your heart.......listen to the sounds

I was in the military in the same time period. I love how these songs from that era can bring back those memories. Great time in life in hindsight, even though I received the same “Dear John” letter. Life turned out better because of it, but I didn’t know it back then. Thanks for your service, Semper Fi, and I hope your life ascended after your experience.

Glad you enjoyed Pearl Jam. Great first reaction. Please check out Soundgarden. The voice of the late great Chris Cornell was so special. (Chris was the singer /guitarist in Soundgarden and also Audioslave) Maybe even check out Chris's live acoustic cover of Prince's "Nothing Compares To You". It's just jaw droppingly good.

90s were a great time to be alive to see/listen to the greats. Pearl Jam , Sound Garden, Stone Temple Pilots , Alice in Chains, Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, to name a few. They not only sounded all different , they wrote damn good lyrics and really performed their songs super convincingly! ♥️

Great song, great band, and great reaction, you could see the raw emotion on your face as you listened to the lyrics and the passion in his voice. The MTV Unplugged series had some of the most raw and incredible performances come from it. Alice In Chains performance of Nutshell and Down In A Hole from their Unplugged performance are really memorable. Their official video of Would?, Rooster, and the unofficial video Alice In Chains - Love, Hate, Love - Live at the Moore, are some of their best videos, but not their best songs. The lead singer of Alice In Chains, Layne Staley (RIP brother) was truly one of the best and most unique voices of the decade. Their EP's Jar Of Flies and Sap have some great songs. The single album by a band called Mad Season, which was a supergroup formed from many bands including the guitarist of Pearl Jam, Mike McCready and Layne Staley as the vocalist, has some really great songs as well. Hope you look into them and enjoy some of their music.
