Disclaimer: Biggest PJ fan -always have and always willbe. That said- Mike’s solos disappoint me. I play guitar as well. When I compare his to say, Dean DeLeo, for example I just see laziness as the difference between the two. Anyone feel the same.?

I dug the unison bends. Not something I see him to do often. But yes, besides that, up the neck then down the neck can be a bit boring. But then again we are going on 30 years of playing the tune.

Interesting point. I think nowdays MM is struggling (very often) to be emotionally involved with a song after 25+ years of playing same tune. He is just doing it mechanically. Once he is in the moment, he is one of the best.

I think the groove on the drums should be less tight, slightly slower and more sloppy to begin with, to inspire more release. No ? Matt is a great drummer, I'm sure he could if he wanted. No ? I feel like it would impact the solo and especially the singing. Think about sexyness and Barry White. The kick = penis and and the snare drum = palm hitting the ass.
