Horses are great healers. A lot of people don't realize how much they can help someone mentally as well as physically. Even soldiers coming home from war, it helps with PTSD. I, as someone with PTSD, am grateful for my work with the horses I work with. Thank you Steve and Rhiannon!! You are an AMAZING WOMAN!! 💖 💖 From a former Paramedic who suffers from PTSD from my many years of working in Ontario, Canada, Jenn. 💖 💖 🇨🇦 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟

Unfortunately my CPTSD and gastrointestinal problems have left me emaciated and in pain. What the USA offers me is next to nothing so each day is hell. I used to be a horsewoman. Horses would help. I have no access or family support. Is it better in Canada? Aren't these videos wonderful?
@jenniferlehman3262 жыл бұрын
@@karenatha7890 Yes it is better in Canada. We have free health care through our home province, you can get disability from the province, that will include extra money for doctors visits, special diets, here in Ontario, well where I am at least, we have a therapeutic riding school. Where you could be led or be off line if you have control of your whole body. It is called TROTT, then there is another one that helps soldiers with PTSD, or have lost a lower limb but now have a prosthetic, they are used a lot in Search and Rescue Operations. They are using the skills they used in the Military and transferring it over to civilian life to help themselves and others. They do a lot of ground work training first, sometimes I've helped with that, sometimes I've helped at the command center as to where to search on the grid, they have satellite phones to call in they're position, and the numbers they give us? Even without a Satellite phone giving us the position, are within 1/2 inch of each other. But there are definitely more benefits to living up here I find, Health care being the main one. You don't have to declare bankruptcy or be foreclosed or lose everything. Depending on the province you live in the tax may be higher but there are ways to recoup some of that when you file a tax claim.

With Canada's Socialized Medical Care, you can die waiting to see the specialist your primary doctor referred you out to. It is substandard care. Sorry. I am just being truthful.
@jenniferlehman3262 жыл бұрын
@@Catch-qn3xh True, it took me 27 months to see a specialist for my back. And my primary care doctor at the time didn't find him I did!! I did the leg work. I found 4, in 3 different cities. And luckily the one I saw was in a city I had worked in as a Paramedic. She's telling me she's going to send me out a direction sheet on how to get to the hospital, I cut her off politely. Said I had been a Paramedic in that city and to save the packet as I knew exactly how to get to the hospital with no issues. We have good healthcare. The problem is, our doctors are leaving for better paying jobs in the USA. So we are losing a lot of our specialists that way. But no health care system is perfect. All I know is, if I have to have kidney surgery, I go to Montreal, claim I was visiting friends, got ill, presented myself to the A&E(ER) Department, and I'm treated. So I have that option. Inter-Billing of provinces is allowed in Emergency situations. And as I only have 33% kidney function, it is urgent treatment. Even in Great Britain there is a very long wait list for some specialties. So there is no perfect system, but at least I don't go into hundreds of thousands of dollars into debt like people in the USA do, and for that I can be grateful. Stay Safe Melissa Jewell!! 💖 Jenn

I do not normally watch horse videos, I was just scrolling and just started watching the first video, and there was just something that kept me watching, and then to find out that the owner of Pearl has ME like myself, I have Fibromyalgia/ME and have had depression all my life, so much of her story resonated with me, and it was a bit of a tough go with Pearl, but Pearl and the owner have blossomed, it is a beautiful thing to see. I think Pearl brought you and viewers together, and have touched all who watch the videos. Cheers to Pearl and all who saved her, it’s all about Love what you give you will get back 100 times over. That's wonderful how Pearl helped everyone! I got my horse last year after my friend got one and I said how expensive they are. She said they are cheaper than therapy. I said I can justify that. So I got a horse after not having one for 30 years. I think I have ptsd from finding my son dead 7 years ago. And then dealing with his death after was very difficult. I'm 58 years old and didn't get a nice older horse like I was supposed to, I got a 7 year old who hadn't been ridden in 2 years. So I've been on KZbin University learning about each thing that comes up. We're almost perfect together now. And we're of good ages to grow old together now. I have plenty of money to take care of her now but I have a back up plan if I ever run out we can go eat grass in a field together.

It's been my experience that horses are more sensitive than dogs or cats, so when you feel fear it amplifies their fear, when you are calm it softens their fear and helps them to feel safe. Something I learned a few decades ago ... the energy of Fear is almost always interpreted as aggression. The old adage, "don't let a dog smell fear on you because they'll bite" I believe this is because when they smell your fear, they interpret you as a threat and this is likely the case when any animal smells fear ... Fear = Aggression = Threat Yes, fear has an odor, as do all of our emotions ... our emotions change our body chemistry
@BBnSam12152 жыл бұрын
I see it as more that fear = unpredictability. So if an animal senses fear, they don’t know what to expect from you and it makes them anxious.

I hope you continue to gift the occasional work to horses/people in need of help but can't afford the expense of hiring professional help like yourself. all to rare in today's world. i've always felt the one of the best perks of "making the big leagues" would be having the ability to gift your skills to someone in need without worrying if you could keep the lights on month to month. unfortunately the big leaguers like Anderson, Mills, Parelli, etc..never do that. you're a good man, steve. thank you! wish i'd had one of those red buckle things when i was working with young horses 20 yrs ago.

Just watched this video and want to say how much I enjoyed it. Listening to you talking about how much Pearl had done for all involved in her care reminded me of something I came across a while ago. Did you know that American military veterans suffering from PTSD, drug addiction, suicidal thoughts etc have been helped greatly by going to ranches to spend time caring for horses? Apparently they can form bonds with horses that help them psychologically. Almost all these veterans have had a positive, life changing outcome from these experiences.

It also gives others the opportunity to personally contribute to a beautiful success story by donating even one dollar to her channel-so she can afford to but hay for the horses and they don’t just eat grass and/or poor quality hay. So often, you find out later that the majority of the money you contributed went to the top executives- instead of the people -who were supposed to be getting it and who really needed it. Such an inspiring video from such an inspiring person,yourself-Steve Young. You are our hero!

So many facets to this horse's story and how it resonates with people. I'm so glad you shared it. I'm so glad Rhiannon shared her journey and Kenny wrote a little bit. Thank you.

omg. Even i can't stand still for that dental procedure. LOL. I have learned so much about communicating with horses and I realized I used some of these techniques to train my dog years ago. If I had been trained to understand horses like this I would have really enjoyed the time I spent riding in my teens. The only training I got was "Don't be afraid. The horse can sense it." That was a little helpful but not really. Plus, without the training and understanding it makes for a very boring experience around these big, gorgeous animals. I loved riding and grooming. Thank you very much from Colorado.

I actually think telling someone to not be afraid is more of a block to being able to feel calm. As you say, learning the language and our how own body movements speak is more to the point. I am still learning.

WOW! “What a difference a day makes!” Of course, there was more than one, but the beginning day of Pearl’s first day with your help, was a miracle! Thank you, Steve, for your dedication to these beautiful animals. I could go on and on, but there are others more eloquent with words than I who will help get this one very special story out into our suffering world and give hope for the peace that has been given to Pearl and her special caretakers! God bless! 🇺🇸MesquiteTX USA

So glad you helped out of the goodness of your heart. It gives hope to humanity. And perhaps she was easier to catch after cuz she wasn’t dealing with pain. Brought tears to my eyes to see the pic of her with the little girl.

Just awesome,, I have Cerebral Palsy and I rode horses in my early teens and had a favourite old horse called Pancho. He was so gentle and loving towards me, I loved him so much. Thank you for sharing this video with us.

Steve, we need someone like you here in Australia. I became one of you many followers a few months ago and have learned so much from you. Pearl’s story is amazing, I cried so much with sadness and then with happiness at her outcome. I wish I could have had your help when I got Bobby, a vey frightened TB. It took 2 years just approaching and retreating to get his trust and for him to learn to be a horse again. He was sold to me as a Been there done it horse, suitable for a child and Riding for the disabled, I thought he was going to be my go to horse to ride in the forest, how wrong was I. Anyway, he was 5 yrs old when he arrived and he is now 9 and such a lovely boy. I still don’t ride him, I ride my QH Harry (the photo) and Bobby is happy just to hang around and watch. Thank you for all you have taught me through sharing your amazing video. Karen.

You give credit to Pearl for all these good things, but it was you, Steve, who put it all into motion by agreeing to help in the first place. Your generous offer gave Pearl the ability to work her magic. May you continue to reap the rewards of your decent nature. 👏🏼👏🏼

Rhiannon, I am so happy for you! Please be sure to enjoy these moments of peace with Pearl and let her changes bolster yours. You are a lovely, sensitive lady and deserve to receive comfort from all the horses you keep, and know that their peace and happiness comes from your strength that you give them the moment you rescue them. God bless you and let him give you his strength.
