Do you have to raise the bed up in the beginning in a high working position so you won’t hurt your back ?
@NURSEJAR5 жыл бұрын
Hi, Jazmin! Body mechanics is not scored during testing. If you raise the height of the bed, you must remember to lower it to a safe position before you walk away from it. I strongly recommend not doing so, as you will be nervous during testing and might forget to lower the bed. This could cause you to fail due to safety.

Before the client get up for you to untie the gown would it be easier to tell them to rest of there elbows or raise the head of bed?
@NURSEJAR5 жыл бұрын
Hi, Horn Man! Not exactly. Having the client to position themselves in the two manners you describe would actually increase the candidates risk of overexposing the client. Furthermore, raising the HOB is wasting the candidates allotted time. However, you may perform this step in any manner you feel comfortable. This is how I train my students to perform this skill. It it has not failed them, to date!!!
@samiihuston19565 жыл бұрын
Hi Julie, my instructor would have us sit up the client and dress them, does it matter if I have them lying down or sitting in the state test?
@NURSEJAR5 жыл бұрын
Hi, Samii! You may either dress the person while the person is lying in the bed or sitting in the bed. Although I train my students to perform this skill both ways, I encourage my students to perform this skill while the person is lying in the bed. Performing the skill this way will lower your risk for overexposing the client while undressing and dressing.

Hi, Tashauna! Good observation. Body Mechanics is not emphasized during testing. You have to keep in mind that the candidates are timed. The raising and lowering of the level/height of the bed will only waste the candidates time. In the real life environment, yes, the good practice of Body Mechanics is important. But, for testing, it's best that candidates do not employ body mechanics unless absolutely necessary.
