Autism is highly overdiagnosed and often confused with intellectual disability, or short and long-term memory issues, and deductive reasoning. Also, how can a person be considered to be autistic if he/she no longer meets any criteria for autism? When an alcoholic stops drinking and takes proper care of his/her health, do we still call the person "alcoholic"? It is the present that defines the person, not the past. We learn about autism from people who have autism, not from books.
