@thiscorrosion9003 жыл бұрын
if you're playing professionally and touring, EVERY bloody musician should have a good board tuner or strobe tuner up with you. Even back in the late 1990s when I saw John Wesley Harding (the folk rock guy) at some small club in Brooklyn, every damned guy up there had a Boss tuner on the pedal board, clear as day. It's essential, at least if you're playing out live and/or recording.

When you're standing in front of your cabinets like that are you projecting the voice of the amps+cabinets between your legs at 85+ Decibels? I'm usually standing beside the cabinet to avoid any damage to my ears (I have tinnitus really bad in one ear) And I'm curious if standing in front of them like that during practice would be painfully loud and dangerous

Can I ask you, since nobody I've spoken to at the local guitar shops etc., seem to have any clue, is there ANY such thing as a smaller, practice or combo amp of any kind, that is suitable for home metal or thrash/death metal playing? Or, is it essentially impossible to get that kind of high gain sound out of anything like that, and you'd need at least a Marshall or Mesa head and cabinet and some of these pedals to get anything close? I figured it was nearly impossible, but I thought if anybody would know, it would be you! I mean, Line6 isn't cutting it, nor would I EVER buy a Fender, Vox, Orange, small amp for metal. Maybe a Boss Katana 100 watt combo, and that's if it's as good as they say, which I'm somewhat skeptical of. If you had a small Marshall Valvestate with a good metal pedal, could you get close?
@DanGatesMetal3 жыл бұрын
I have a Peavey 6505+ 112 combo that sounds real good! I’ve also heard that the Peavey Vypyr is real good!
@thiscorrosion9003 жыл бұрын
@@DanGatesMetal I had a feeling you might recommend Peavey. It seems that there are very few small practice or combo amps marketed for metal, given you normally need some serious high gain/power and preferabl,y, tube, action to get that sound. I don't think a Fender Champ is gonna cut it! I have heard the Peavey's are recommended for some metal. I keep reading comments on reviews on here from kids who say, hey my Line6 Spider is weak! And I'm like..yeah it's like 5-25 watts solid state! I just got a Blackstar V3 10 watt amp, and I would say it's fine for crunch, clean, some heavy metal hard rock styles, but that's about it. Then again, it's only the 10 watt version, although it's pretty impressively loud for that. I read Metallica started with all Marshall, then went to mainly MesaBoogie, but we're talking their live setups vs. recording studio setups, also.
@thiscorrosion9003 жыл бұрын
@@DanGatesMetal I think it's Peavey for the win, because I'm not seeing many other combo options that are in the ballpark anyway. I guess a Marshall older Valvestate with a good pedal or two might do it.
