Pecos NM, Elk at the pond,

took a little trip to Pecos NM, my old home, did not find any sheds but I still love the Pecos Wilderness, Scout it, Shed it, Sherwood it! Elk, Bull, Mule Deer, Wildlife, New Mexico

Too bad those cow elk at the pond weren’t there last year during my hunt. Thanks for taking us all along on this hike in Pecos.

It's pretty cool to see different areas of the country from a perspective exactly like I would go and explore them. Pre-scouting for shed season is required work!

Yeah, I am hoping to get out to some different areas this spring and summer, with my time off from being a teacher!

My close friend owns property there in Pecos. I drew a late season elk tag in unit 45 a few years ago. We scouted those areas your're in, as well as up in elk mountain. On top of that, the fishing is amazing! I love going up there as well as often as I can.

What boots do you like to use? I'm looking to get a new pair.

kenetrek boots all the way, I can buy a pair of danners or keens and wear through them in 3 months the kenetreks have lasted 5 years but i did have to send them in to be resoled, I do keep up with the wax on them also! I know they cost a lot but for me they are worth it,.

How did your deer hunt turn out?

Saw a 140ish on friday but I held out for a different buck, but never found one, did get 20 yards from a cool red bear! that was fun saw 20 bucks maybe none over 150
