If I may, some suggestions to boost this as high as it deserves.... First, a tutorial narration would be in order. Would love to hear you explain what you are doing and why- Frame steel components/ materials used, what kind of steering this is, etc. Secondly, the title can be redone to say DIY velomobile, DIY quadracycle, diy 4wheel pedal car. i have literally been watching KZbin for hours this weekend, and this is the best video that actually shows a guy building one of these 4 wheelers step by step in a single video. A good 20 minute video beats the devil out of a multi part series in my book. your comments about how to improve it are excellent, and an arrogant farmboy like me can noodle it out. I also agree with you that most of what is accomplished here can be built in a well equipped garage using an affordable Harbor Freight fluxcore wirefeed welder and a simple hacksaw rather than a grinder (but we all need an excuse to buy new tools though, right?). I have saved this video and created a single category title. I would love to see you make another from scrap bicycles and some bone simple diagrams and measurements. I am certain that these ideas would boost the plays and likes, because mercy- this is genius on display. I am going to build on this video idea specifically!! Cheers, and keep making cool stuff!! I kind of want to build a 4-seat model with electric assist for hill climbing, and a functioning derailleur for greater speed. I think having 2 person power would be simple Enough. 4 person would be too complex for me though. Then maybe battery operated drills for bill assist? I’ll have to experiment with how an 18v assist does, versus higher voltage… a pair of car batteries adds a lot of weight. Cordless drills are cheap.

How would you make this a two seater with the wheel on one side? I'm trying to puzzle out the steering situation for my two boys.
@bryanpatterson93 Жыл бұрын
It's a two seater, I just installed the car seat so my little girl could ride safely. Only improvement is to move the back wheels further behind the seat (rearward) to ensure a more stable center of gravity!
@Silentdragn Жыл бұрын
@arianevans6810 the solution to move the wheel to one side is add another cross bar with chain and gear. I would like to see a 4 passenger version.

Is that a baby seat for the drivers seat? Other than that it was freaking awesome.

Glad you enjoyed it! I made hoops on the passenger side so my little girl could ride in her car seat.

I could, contact me @bryan_maker_patterson on Instagram. Unfortunately the price of steel and shipping is outrageous right now

in total how much was it $. not the seats or wheels though just the metal
@bryanpatterson934 жыл бұрын
$50-$100 depends on steel prices. I used 3/4" steel tubing for most of it. Roughly 2 sticks 20ft each. The control arms are made of 2" wide by 3/8" thick flat stock. Hope this helps clarify a little!

It is a pipe notcher, it nips a little slice of the pipe off so they can fit together better

You can cut the steel with a cutoff wheel on an angle grinder and use any simple welder on low settings
