Dude those pedal tones are so sick, could you make a tutorial video on how to get better tone and possibly add how to get that tone like maybe pedal embouchure it would help severely especially with students such as me going into 9th next year I would appreciate that I’m sure everyone else would aswell 👍

That’s a good idea! I do use a switch for low pedals, where I use all upper lip and anchor the bottom lip on the lowest part of the rim. I’m not sure how much you can see of that in this video. Experiment at home and tell me how you go!

How on earth do you get search clarity in the bottom register like that!? I can articulate pretty well down to around a bottom D but anything lower than that just sounds fluffy and messy.
@mikeszabo5631
@mikeszabo5631 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Oli, make sure to practice breath attacks in the low register, even down in the low pedals-slow half notes resetting between each one. You will probably find it very difficult at first. Once those notes improve, then try the same but articulated, with a lighter tongue. The key to clean attacks in the low range is great air and a light attack.

Sorry mate I can’t recommend a mouthpiece for you because I don’t know your playing! If you are young, it could be you’re on something too small. Try a test, play something like The Creation #26 three times through back to back. If you are chipping a lot of the high notes then chances are you are playing too big a mpc!

How do i study to get these strong notes that way?
@evracer
@evracer 2 жыл бұрын
LUNGS.......huge....massive LUNGS. I was a Euphonium major and got to play bass trombone for a couple semesters of jazz lab in college. I seriously believe TUBA requires LESS lung capacity than bass trombone if you're trying to play stuff like in this video with power. I've never had an instrument that made me WANT to pass out from lack of air except bass trombone. The air to play a pedal Bb on Euph for a whole note will get you a strong quarter note on bass bone.
@TheRandomWolf
@TheRandomWolf Жыл бұрын
@@evracer I mean play low notes on tuba also requires more air, blasting out low F or below requires huge lung support
@evracer
@evracer Жыл бұрын
@@TheRandomWolf with a tuba you hit diminishing returns though. You are never going to melt someone's face with a tuba... So at some point more air on tuba doesn't get you a bigger result. The aggressive timbre of a bass trombone just keeps rewarding the harder you blow.
