Pedal powered fan with Momentum Energy

This looks like they've hooked a fan up to a generator and are using that to power the fan. If you wanted to do something more mechanically complex, you could have the output directly drive the fan, but that doesn't seem to be something that anyone has done yet.

A year late to this post but I would imagine it could be done using gears. I made a hand propelled fan with a Meccano set. Not sure exactly how mechanics works but if a set of cogs was fastened with a way of changing the directions of how the cogs face you could get a fan to be powered in front of the cyclist I guess. I’m looking into designing a fan-pedal system at the moment. Not sure how it’ll work out.
