Pedals and Effects: Top Ten Pedals of 2017

As 2017 comes to an end, we look back on all of the new effects that we managed to play and really dig into in the past year. There were so many pedals that made their debut in 2017, but these are our top ten pedals (in no order) that, in our opinion have stood out all year.

Nick the modeling amp you have is the same sort of technology as the fractal except the fractal is much much better and the kemper profiling amp is excellent though different technology than modeling. Thanks I enjoy your top ten of the year pedals episodes

The Meris Ottobit does not come in Eurorack, it's in 5U, a larger and generally more expensive format than the 3U eurorack.

Best pedal I've ever owned. It's absolutely incredible. Not even for it's crazy effects that you can't get on anything else, but because the actual basic reverbs in it are fantastic. Without question the best spring reverb in a pedal you can buy. Every bit as good and maybe even better than my old fender outboard spring unit because not only can it replicate it to a T, it's dead quiet and doesn't require regular maintenance.

yo, that was a sick list. especially cool to hear the reasonable-sized mothership. but no disrespect though, that mustang ain't no profiling amp! my hunch from what y'all said is that you don't quite understand the deal with the Kemper. I'm not tryna defend it, I don't even have strong feelings about it tbh, but if you know someone who has one and they have the hang of profiling effectively, you might learn some interesting stuff by spending a bit of time with it! also just in case you're reading this Juan, you ain't psyched about that Endangered Audio AD4096 Mark II or whaaaat? I know you've had that mk1 on the board for a lot of miles!

Peter Jacobs I know it’s not to everyone’s tastes but if you haven’t you should check out Nick’s Band Tera Melos. They are quite good at making these pedals work in a song rather than just for noodling

I’m not much of a fan of Nick’s playing. He doesn’t seem to understand space at all. He is always in prog rock mode. I’d love to hear him expand his playing into other genres. You surely can’t be a prog rocker for your entirely life. At some point the calling must come to be a serious player, not just a somewhat rhythmically based noise maker.
