I want to think there’s a meaning behind this video ? So he’s in love with someone and they both hate that they love each other and everyday in the afternoon he calls her number hoping she picks up because he still loves her, and rings and rings later she still will pick up because she still loves him . They’re not good for each other and they know it. He stays in motels because every inch of his own house remind him of her and he fills the emptiness of her presence with running water and static on tv’s. He will regret using his key card to open his room everyday because he knows what’s in store for him as soon as he enters. Regardless, it doesn’t stop him from waiting from outside windows to see her again. The look in his eyes everytime he opens the door is filled with love and regret from knowing it’s a constant cycle that he cannot break.

I think he's opening the door to customers and that place is where he does business, and considering the nature of his business and how it makes him feel, maybe the reason for his hesitation to enter the room.
