I've literally just found this excellent video, my wife is from Berwick-upon-Tweed so the next time we are up there visiting I'm making sure that I get through this tunnel. Thanks for your time and effort in filming and producing this video.

The Victorians knew how to build railways that's for sure. Shame they shut these lines down. I was recently in Cumbria on the old Settle to Carlisle line fantastic engineering probably built the same time as this line. TFS and ATB. Jim.

Would be such an asset if the lines were still in use far better than the expensive border buses, I’d have loved to have seen and traveled on the steam trains. Thanks best wishes Ian

The half mile tunnel as it’s known by Peeblians, you must take a good torch, in the winter icicles hang from the roof also the grave yard there is fascinating. Thank you Angela lovely to hear from you.

@@XhristinaMacey This is a year late but those are border reiver graves you will find them all over the borders of Scotland and England they also usually have the persons trade if they were a baker or a blacksmith ect on them and/or family symbol as well as skull and bones they all have different meaning and represent different things.

I saw the same symbolism Polwarth Kirk with the same skull and crossbones but the scroll or sand-timers were horizontal not perpendicular like at Peebles very intriguing , would have liked to have spent more time there but was very cold with the wind Peebles is a great old town . Regards Ian

The side "cave" is not blocked up ... that's the rock it was cut into. Most long tunnels have refuge areas or storage areas part way along.
