The aliens from Majora’s Mask are actually based off of the Flatwoods monster, a historical account of extraterrestrials from way back in the day that was drawn later on. Hope you see this Peebs, it’s actually pretty interesting if you look into it (and similar tales from throughout the ages about paranormal or cryptic activity).

Re-read the story of the flat woods monster. It isn’t like…folklore. It’s literally just another made up alien story
@Nonsensehat Жыл бұрын
You're blowing my mind by associating the Flatwood Monster with Nintendo. In addition to Majora's Mask, if you google image different artist renditions of it, lots of them look like they'd fit right into Paper Mario or Luigi's Manison. Other renditions look more like the creature that hides under Slenderman's bed but just ignore those.

@@dstinnettmusic Technically it is folklore. The definition of folklore being that it's 'shared by a particular group of people; it encompasses the traditions common to that culture, subculture or group.' They host a Flatwoods Festival annually to commemorate the day of its discovery, they have a Flatwoods Museum, and a few tourist attractions.

Something that's also scary about them is that if you manage to see one without it attacking you, if you fire an arrow at it, it'll dodge the arrow by tilting it's head forward or back, then turn to you and stare at you for a a few seconds. They also stare at you before their eyes light up if I remember correctly, so you just see this thing dodge an attack as fast as an arrow shot, then just turn their head to you without moving the rest of their body, and stare at you with these empty dark eye sockets.

I remember renting Majora's Mask from Blockbuster, finding out you needed an expansion card for it to work, my mom coming home the next day with an expansion card, and then playing it for a few hours. I couldn't figure out how to do something (Forgot what) and let the time run out, and then saw the moon crashing scene. That freaked me out SO MUCh, I promptly returned the game and didn't play it again until I got my Wii. Since I was an adult at that point, and was prepared for the creepy stuff, I enjoyed it despite the occasional freeze and crash. Ever since then, it remains one of my favorite Zelda games because of how different and in depth it was. There was a creativity behind it that other Zelda games just don't do. I kinda wish they'd do another Zelda game with a similar motif, where all the story lies in the side quests rather than the main quest.

OK, I think I have the most terrifying/stressful/unsettling dungeon possible, hear me out... The TP art style and brightness/darkness Add in a lore as dark as the Arbiter's Grounds (like the Dungeon is both in the mortal realm and the realm of the dead). Put a s* ton of creepy enemies and traps (go at the bottom of this for enemy ideas and what kind of traps). Make the celling of every room seem super low for claustrophobia and the void seem super deep for Acrophobia. Make a Wallmaster follows Link trough the whole dungeon (because stress) (no sound or shadow as warning (like TH)) Put a lot of skulls as decoration in the walls, floors and ceilings (many types of skulls: humans, mobs in the game, animals). Blood as decoration a little everywhere (make it look it comes from behind a door in some places). Instruments like in Bottom of the Well and the Shadow Temple (now add skeletons on them). Add a dungeon gimmick where a Stalfos spawns everywhere the player gets a game over. Final Hours music (but make it get louder as the player goes deeper (like Ganondorf's organ)) (Shadow Temple second choice) A section like the boat of the Shadow Temple where enemies just get on the boat Coffins everywhere (with some of them falling like in TWW and some containing mobs) Opening certain chests triggers some traps and enemy spawns The cursed water in the Ancient Cistern (make sure you get some waterfalls that come out of giant skulls at some point) Every once in a while, a laugh of Skull Kid from MM plays Make the walls act like in Jabu-Jabu's Belly where they move (can always make them look ghostly). Jabu-Jabu's Belly ambient sounds (Mini-)Bosses ideas: Armoghoma, Death Sword, Gomess, Dead Hand, Blind the Thief, Stalblind I'd say to add a Phantom Hourglass and/or Phantoms gimmick, but that would take too much from the Temple of The Ocean King (but Fantoms in a 3D game would be incredible in my opinion) and wouldn't work well with the rest. So, the enemies I was talking about, I was thinking *Anything turned into an invisible version. *Skulltulas (the TP version preferably) *Redeads and Gibdos (give them the TWW scream too) (No Sun Song allowed). *Dead Hand's hands that stick out the floor and the walls at multiple spots in the dungeon *Stal mobs like in BOTW (yes they pop out of the ground at any random time and you'll never know the kind, when or where). *Floor masters with the style of OOT that look severed like Bongo Bongo's hands but make them act like the TWW ones. *Flying pots. *Poes (TP style). *Wizzrobes with the behaviour of PH (make them look like Wizzro). *Bubbles that come out the void. *Archers of some kind that shoot from super far away, you never know where they are and they have a slow shooting rate. *Like-Like (drop them from the ceiling in unexpected places) *Zombokoblins or any zombie version of common enemies. *A new enemy that takes the appearance of random NPC' you've seen trough the game but in a creepy version (White eyes Ilia and Link in TP for reference or an undead versions). And for the traps (yeah OK I ran out of ideas quick) *Fake floors in which you fall (like what the Lens of Truth allows to not _fall_ for) *The eyes that shoot fire but put them behind fake walls (go back one line for explanation) *The spinning scythe from OOT *Spikes that pop up when you get close *Ceiling slowly lowering to crush the player (the walls version always works) *Arrow shooting traps that you don't see

Same. As soon as BotW’s release date was announced I made a countdown on my phone and I probably spent a cumulative 5 hours just staring at it before March 3rd. But now, idk... _for me,_ it’s just the fact that it’s not an entirely new world to explore. My dream was for this to be like Majora’s Mask - same art style and a handful of characters carrying over, but an entirely new world.
@TheWorstPartyMember Жыл бұрын
I think it's troubled development cycle is to blame. We all burned up all our hype within the first year after it's announcement and then the long news lull did nothing to rekindle it. I know for me getting the release date was such a relief since it meant I could just sit back and enjoy other games until then. Pretty sure once May rolls around though I'll start turning into an impatient gremlin again.
@MineCrapSteve Жыл бұрын
@@Dan_Roland At least this game seems to have plenty of new areas added on from the original game, and the original world will presumably have different content, so it should still be a lot of fun. That said, I do agree that it isn't as hype as if Link and Zelda had been transported to another world to explore anew instead of a world that's only half-new. The main hope, then, is that the Koroks and Shrines are replaced with something more meaningful to explore à la past Zeldas.

I didn’t know what made this more than just Botw with some sky islands, and with the 6 year dev time and no obvious reason for it, I was worried it was a troubled project. But then there was an art book leak. I looked at it and it actually didn’t spoil anything I wouldn’t have minded seeing in a trailer. I’m not recommending you look at it, but I don’t think it spoils a lot. What it did tell me is this game is DEFINITELY not just Botw 1.5 and this game is going to blow everyone’s minds. One of my favorite creepy moments in Zelda that almost always gets left off of lists is in Minish Cap, where if you take too long to get to Vaati in Dark Hyrule Castle, he actually completely extracts the Light Force from Zelda, killing her. This gets you a game over. In every other Zelda game, either Zelda remains a prisoner, or it's merely implied that she MIGHT be dead. But in Minish Cap? This is the only time in the series where it is explicitly stated that Zelda will 100% die if you fail to reach her in time. Of course, it's hard to see this ending, given that the time limit is pretty generous, but it can still happen.

I think the spider curse was something Ganondorf did to them. I may be wrong, but I have a feeling it was that. I agree that the bottom of the well is very dark, like blood, a old guillotine. A majora mask is one of the darkest game. Like poor dad that got cursed and became a gibdo because of the curse in Ikana, but I most say the creapiest thing in Majora Mask is the happy mask salesman who teleport like that in the end of the game and litteraly can undo almost any curse. But for Romani I think Link is creating multiple timeloop/timeline to the point where Romani is a paradoxe. Also I agree with you PBG, during all the game, there's suspense about Zant, but at the end he is disappoitment. He is creepy and sinister at the beginning of the game, but at the end when you fight him, he turns into a clow.

PLEASE play Minish Cap on stream! That's probably the LoZ game that I have the most nostalgic feelings for and I still miss the Picori! They were a great design that just... didn't get used again.

The Majota’s Mask mummy monster always gets me in a sad way, especially with the teddy bear the daughter leaves him. As a sucker for teddy bears, it saddens me. 😭💔🧸

are we not gonna talk about the ghost ship in phantom hourglass and how it steals people's souls and the fact that there are these creepy girls that turn out to be evil spirits

The upside down Ilias are supposed to represent Lanayru showing Link how mad Link will go if he attempts to control the Fused Shadow.

Every time I play Majora I make sure to go back and do all of the temples as well as the major quests (Romani, Anju and Kafei, the Mayor's Office, etc.) on the finishing cycle so everyone in Termina actually gets a somewhat happy ending.

As someone who still hasn't finished BOTW after all these years, I'm not that excited for TOTK at the moment. It's not that I dislike BOTW, but I don't love it as much as other people do. It's a very time-consuming game and I am not a humongous Zelda fan, so I simply prioritize other games. I may need to replay it like you did to see if I can fall in love with it again.

12:00 I dunno, does it count that when I was doing the quest I didn't know, but when we got to her bedroom and she started acting weird I figured it out? like when the cutscene started playing and the music started getting warped I was like "Oh, you're sick and easy to manipulate right now, you're about to get transformed by dark powers and I'm gonna have to free you like the Goron Chief"

I wish for the ghost ship they used the original gamecube footage because it has that moment where when you reach the treasure once the ladder comes down, there's a stone carved face in the wall with a neutral expression. However, if you move close enough or look at the face through the telescope, it turns into a huge sharp toothed grin. It's such a subtle creepy thing!! and yes I am very much excited for TOTK, the only thing I feel like is kind of weird is the vehicle building stuff lol but I'm willing to give it a try. Plus there's only so many times I can open BOTW and give myself some task to do b/c I want to play the game but don't really have anything to do anymore lol.

It has been ages since I played through some of the older Zeldas, but now I do recall being unsettled by a lot in Ocarina and especially Majora's Mask. Twilight Princess had its moments as well. When I was a kid, the one thing from Zelda that scared me othe most (besides Dead Hand) was my first encounter with a Wallmaster in the Forest Temple of Ocarina of Time. I don't think I read the hints about it or even knew about it. I recall leaving Link standing still for a bit and heard that creepy sound as the Wallmaster's shadow grows closer. When it finally jumped down and grabbed me, I just completely lost it! Zelda has always had some pretty good scares! I never found anything particularly freaky in Wind Waker except maybe running into the Big Octos or those shark enemies that tried to knock you out of your boat.

Like same, I am so excited for the new game but I have heard and seen so little of other people getting excited. Like I get some people might be annoyed we don't know more about the game but that's what makes Zelda games so great is they often don't show everything so you get to experience it.

I've never played a Zelda game for more than an hour but the creepy stuff they sneak in always seems interesting.

@@skyvader1238 I know but for some reason I can't seem to get into them. I think pbg is the main way I've seen Zelda. I think I did a bit of ocarina back on my cousins 64 though as I remember the gorons and the bomb bracelet but don't think I got far as I never got to adult link.

12:34 yeah, I mean to be fair that’s the whole point of the build up with Zant, he was introduced to be intimidating but as the more the game progresses you find at the end to be the most pathetic being, even shows in his boss battle going all berserk, not what you expect when they lose composure

I'm excited for TotK, I just wonder what the games gonna look like, and it's content, given the designers said it was initially going to be dlc before it got too big, kind of like Mario Galaxy 2.
