Very nice work man. The only thing I would suggest when tying your flies(granted I’ve seen it happen but I’ve never had it happen to me) is run the articulation through the eye of the front hook when tying down your wire. It will prevent the wire from slipping out and leaving you with a single hook fly.

Fly fishing for pike is SO fun. This spring has been a skunk for me though, which sucks because im moving down south and wont have an opportunity for them for a while. The delivery man is a sick pattern... all of his are though. The unholy diver is another one of my favs, and almost all of my pike flies are based off of the delivery man or the aino. Amazing tier that guy. You're getting very good at tying yourself. Love the videos man keep it up! Try getting some double barrel popper heads and tie them in reversed for a diver effect. Fun fly topwater there!

Donald King well some goldhead-weighed streamers wouldn’t be wrong and a class 6/7 or 7 flyrod with either floating or intermediate line. Also diameter 0,20-0,25 leaders would suit this kind of fishing.

Is the stuff in the bottle glue ? And then does the uv light set the fibers in the feathers ? Please make like a 5-10 min video explaining the basics thank you, been watching for over a year
@peelindrag1136 жыл бұрын
You pretty much got it. It's a liquid in the bottle, but hardens immediately when in contact with the UV light. It's often put on the end of the fly to seal the thread together or in my case, keep the craft fur facing the direction I wanted. I'm glad you've stuck around! Many more videos to come.

I have been fly fishing for a little over a year now, but I have not gotten into fly tying yet. Do you have any recommendations or advice for me to start fly tying? It looks really fun to make your own flies and then catch fish on it!
@peelindrag1136 жыл бұрын
Look up a bunch of tying videos on youtube, then pick a few patterns you like and keep tying them over and over until you like how it looks. It takes a while, and at first the flies probably won't look too great. But once you start to get the hang of it you'll pick up on it quickly.
@zackkeller68186 жыл бұрын
Peelindrag thx bro I appreciate you helping!💪🏼👊🏼

Peelindrag I have another question, what kits or supplies do you recommend me to buy for fly tying?
@peelindrag1136 жыл бұрын
Most vices in the $100 range are pretty good quality, but if your just starting out and don't want to spend a lot you can get away with cheaper ones. I haven't tried out any fly tying kits myself, but if you just want to get the hang of it and tie up some basic patterns a kit is probably the way to go. You can always upgrade from there if you end up really enjoying it.

Geez, I'm missing out bigtime in Maine. Pickerel don't even run the rivers here. To my knowledge, the only place pike/muskies run the river are on the St.John. However, that's a good thing for the brook trout and salmon population even though the smallmouth populations really taking over too much. All the good deep holes in the rivers that used to hold big trout and landlocked salmon now hold big smallies, which sucks because I like fishing for them more than bass. Bass are fun and all, but when they aren't a native species they really mess with an ecosystem. Maine's not really known for big smallies, but it should be since I caught a multitude of 3-4lb and even 5lb fish last summer on my local river.
@peelindrag1136 жыл бұрын
Man I'm sorry to hear that. Pike would definitely push out trout in the rivers.. hopefully the trout and salmon can make a come back eventually!
@coryrockwell88646 жыл бұрын
They just might man. The state has no bag limit on all smallmouth this season, so hopefully people take part in that. They did it with pickerel a few years back when they started getting massive(25" average on my local lake), so maybe this will help!

For throwing larger pike streamers most people use 8 or 9wts. 5wt line won't be able to carry a heavy streamer as well.

@iancameron16626 жыл бұрын
You said you were walking up stream vs down stream any reason why ?????
@peelindrag1136 жыл бұрын
When you walk through rivers you often stir up the sediment on the bottom. If your walking up stream everything flows behind you, but if your walking downstream all that sediment is going to be infront of you going into the spots you want to fish.

Going to small ponds or places with lots of easy to catch fish helps a lot. You can practice your casting, and catching fish while doing it boosts your confidence.

Dude, this video was awesome! What are you using for a leader? I loved seeing you tie your flies and then use them in the same video!

I often times buy leaders that already have a wire tippet attached. But I also have some tieable wire called knot2kinky which is very durable and doesn't curl up. The only down side is it takes some practice to be able to tie knots with it.

It's possible, but you wouldn't be able to take a motorized boat through these rivers. The pike could have gotten injured in a lake or larger river then traveled here though.
