Hey man I loved the video and the way you phrase your thoughts and the editing too. However if you're open to feedback I'd like to make a remark about Celeste. Rather than being about overcoming depression, I'm fairly certain that its about DEALING with and accepting depression, and the fact that it will be part of you no matter what. Keep up the great job bud, you got a new sub.

SpartanRarity yea I’d agree with that point. I used deal and overcome pretty interchangeably. I know they’re not the same thing

You did a good job with the video, but I feel like it's a stretch how you connect these games to religion/faith/spirituality or whatever and I disagree with it. Celeste has nothing that even remotely connects it to religion. You are spot on about how Celeste is about depression and finding something, but that something is simply self-confidence. In the game Madeline even says: "I guess I feel like I need to accomplish something" She hopes to have some confidence in herself by having a hard experience under her belt, something she can say "I did that so I should be able to do this" about. Regarding Iconoclasts, it is rather weird how you managed to somehow bend it as some sort of positive message to religion. Especially seeing the definition of its name. But I agree with you that it is not meant as an anti-religion thing. It should be understood in a broader way. Iconoclasts very much shows how all the religions and people were wrong in the end. It also shows how ruinous everyones actions were. But in my opinion the message of the game is quite simple: Open your eyes to what is happening to your world. Question everyones beliefs and desicions to see whether they lead our world to ruin or prosperity. I'm sorry if this text upsets you but I had to write it. The way you connected these games to religion is literally a "leap of faith".

It seems like people are having trouble with the video being randomly choppy for some reason? I'm not sure why because the video file itself runs smooth as butter. Either way I'll try uploading again and I'll edit this comment with a new link. So sorry KZbin's messin up! EDIT 1 Hold on KZbin told me on Twitter that they're looking into it, we'll see what they come up with. EDIT 2 On my end only Firefox is having problems playing it now! so you should be good!

"I put no stock in religion. By the word religion I have seen the lunacy of fanatics of every denomination be called the will of God. Holiness is in right action and courage on behalf of those who cannot defend themselves, and goodness. What God desires is here [points to head] and here [points to heart] and what you decide to do every day, you will be a good man - or not." - Hospitaller Knight, Kingdom of Heaven.

Iconoclasts shows how religion can be completely untrue and how people can manipulate other people using it. And two of the main characters suffer greatly because of religion. Another character tries to destroy all leaders, including the religious figures, so all people will be equal. So I really don't see a positive message about religion in this game. At most this game shows that it's the nature of people to seek for a religion to guide them in life and connect them with the world, even if through an untrue way. As any story, there are many possible interpretations, but these are my thoughts. Big spoilers ahead. Elro didn't began to be unhappy with how the things only after the penance destroyed his house and family. It is shown that he searched for a long time for a way to destroy the agents. Yes, he says the religion is not the problem, but maybe he doesn't defend the religion that much, just says that people should not have the excuse of religion for the bad things they do. He never seemed a very religious person to me, especially when the religion is forced by the military authority upon people. Royal is not listened by anyone despite being the chosen one by Him because he doesn't respect the law and his authority is retreated. Royal is probably the biggest victim of the main cast, as he is fooled by religious people to think He cares about him, which leads to his death. He has no real connection with reality, even though he wants to, and because of this he makes of lot of mistakes when he only wants to help. He sees his reality and religion crumbling before him and his attack on Him shows his desperation. Robin doesn't ever show her thoughts about religion, but she has a pure heart and does whatever it needs to help people in need, despite being punished for not respecting the law and religion. The conflict of the Tri and Isi religions is interesting, but just shows that both can be bad. There is an Isi person who is unhappy that she has to marry and make children, as her religion says, and a man who is an outcast to the Isi just because he can't have children. The first religion forces people to respect the path decided for them and their purity or die, while the other way can force people to have a life that will make them unhappy. The Tri religion seems far worse just because the persons who use it are way more powerful and they get away with being so radical. In this game (and not only), religion makes happy only the people who don't think much about it or that don't have any knowledge of the real life, like the teens in the tower.

I wouldn't quite call the game anti-religion, but I would say that it's extremely critical of religion and faith. Royal, as the video points out, is the result of too much blind faith in the One Concern, and this inevitably leads to his demise. On the other end of the spectrum, there's Elro, a character that essentially has no faith in anything and actively challenges those who do. Elro didn't believe in his marriage, so his relationship with his wife was very tense. He constantly asks Mina and Royal why they continue to follow the practices of their religions, and he never once believed that his sister could make an actual difference in this messed-up world. (I'd say that he's metaphorical for atheism, but that would be insulting to atheists, since he's kinda a jerk.) Elro would rather sit at home and wait for the world to end because he doesn't believe that anyone can stop it. In his eyes, there's no point in trying. Towards the end of the game, Mina has this small bit of dialogue where she basically just tells Robin to have faith, not in any particular religious way, but instead to have faith in herself and what she can do. And at the end of the day, I think that's what this game is trying to say: that believing in an all-powerful god or space worm or even a flying spaghetti monster (it's an actual religion) isn't nearly as important as believing in yourself. What makes Robin the hero is that she believes in herself while the characters around her aren't able to. Elro thinks everything is pointless, and Royal relies too much on Him to sort everything out in the end. Even Mina has many moments of self-doubt throughout the story. But even as the world is ending, Robin never doubts that she can do her part as a mechanic to help "fix" the world.

I'm pretty confused by your Iconoclasts section. Even though I've played the game multiple times, I'm not really sure what connections you were trying to make to it. Some more discussion and examples would've greatly helped.
