Really interesting! When I would like to try out Guix, would be a raspberry PI 4 a good choice for tinkering with Guix so that I do not break my OSX production boxes? :)

I'm not sure how well it would work on the Raspberry Pi 4, since it requires some proprietary drivers and Guix does not tolerate non-free software at all. I used a virtual machine to explore Guix ;)

It won’t break you boxes. ALL the files are in /gnu and /var/guix You can install packages without root permissions. You need to be admin only for a few installation steps. Anyway a RPI4 might be slow if packages need compilation, but it’s a popular platform so Guix might just download precompiled packages in the public binaries cache. Beware, some packages download A LOT of dependencies, but I found that was the case with Nix too.

@@Zoidmatrix to dispell misconceptions, guix can handle non free software, i am running on a surface pro, and did run on a chromebook. this was pretty much all due to work on the nonguix project
