This man saved my life. Literally, helping me to form the 'language' I needed to stand up to my psychiatrists. I am a Survivor of 30 years of Psychiatric Abuse and I can tell you that he is a very valuable person to me. He has integrity and compassion and he is very well educated. I support him with my whole heart.

Will? You are my hero! I have been trying to get off anti-psychotic medications for 30 years. For the past 6 years the hospital took me to court and won. I am being injected against my will with anti-psychotic medications. My weight has increased. My chances of getting type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome have increased. I have no autonomy over my body. This is what happens to patients all over my town of Montreal, Quebec, Canada. I am being abused and the courts dont care.

@@aaymathebest4705 no you cannot. Remember schizophrenia. Is degenerative. In 1896. It was called dementia praecox. Because back then there was no meds. People are locked up in asylums. Normal and happy sometimes. Hostile and catatonic others. Eventually it lead to cognitive decline. People in their 40s. Had IQs like 30 or 40. Because it progressed. I know the feeling. Zyprexa made me feel way worse, made me sleep 12 hours a day, gave me suicidal thoughts which I had never had before. Though my flaming b***** psychiatrist wants me back on it because she doesn't know I had suicidal thoughts and I'm sure if I told her she'd hear ka-ching and want to put me on an even higher dose. I didn't gain weight on Zyprexa, a common side effect of Zyprexa (which turns out is because I was also on fluphenazine, an antipsychotic which reduces appetite) but after being off of it for a few months, I've lost a few pounds and about 3 inches on my waist (I wasn't overfat but I wasn't underfat and still am neither), maybe even more in the future so it must have been affecting my body composition even though I was actually eating less than I am now. Antipsychotics are basically drugs sold by bigpharm to kill the competition.

It is the responsibility of doctors to use drugs in the lowest necessary dose for the least necessary time, to minimise risks from the drugs (and psychiatric drugs have many known adverse effects), The big problem is false marketing of drugs to doctors and the paradigm of prescribing multiple drugs at high dose for long periods of time (which is great for the drug companies but very bad for society). Programs to educate doctors tp reduce their drug prescribing are essential.

The only help I could find to start taking less all the time only psychiatric drugs and rest being prescribed to me for making a recovery from both child birth complications and domestic violence 5 days after giving birth during those child birth complications was finding a pharmacist who was willing to work with me to reduce the amount of psychiatric drugs without the knowledge of both my violent at the time husband and without the knowledge of my psychiatrist assigned to me in hospital during discharge too only at first up until he asked me why I was looking so much healthier in his office at the time.

Great to see this conversation happening. After forty five years of psych meds, I'm a lifer. I found out in 2018, after three hospitalizations (following three attempts) and over a dozen psych mds, that benzo withdrawl is not being taught in the medical profession. I found no professional resources in this country for this life threatening condition. Fortunately, my meds work for me and self care is my #1 priority. Prozac actually saved my life. It was a wonder drug and I'm still on it. It was as if all the lose ends of so many thoughts coalesced and I could finally focus. I began to live! I can only have faith that I will always have access to them. This is the first I'm learning that I was suffering from a specific side effect called akenesia. Not sure if I'm spelling it correctly.

I met a guy who is a victim of lithium. He had ptsd and took lithium that gave him neuropathy. He can't walk well. His brain doesn't work well either. Prior to this he was athletic and held down a good job. Now he is a shell of himself. He also got diagnosed bipolar when he tried to come off it, so he had to go back on it. All he needed was trauma therapy but sadly, none were offered to him. His life has been destroyed. He had a happy childhood too and was never bipolar.

When I was on Lithium back in 1986, it caused me 2 develop psoriasis. My family insists that my psoriasis was "hereditary" bc 2 relatives of mine suffered from psoriasis but psoriasis is a very known negative effect from Lithium usage. Besides; the manner in how psych meds work, I'm better off drinking beer. Same effect on the brain but alcohol (the "by-product" of beer) leaves ur system much quicker (& tastes much better also (beer, that is; not necessarily the alcohol).

It's even worse incarcerated in "hospitals", where psychiatrists give you maximum 30 seconds of their time (and bill insurance for 45 minutes). I had such horrible side effects from high doses of multiple antipsychotics that I was simply unable to walk, had severe tremors and one night was all but totally paralyzed. ..i truly thought I was on my way out in this life. Simply unconscionable how those psychiatrists deny this is happening as a result of their not listening, nor observing...There's no accountability when thing go wrong. If you don't advocate for yourself, you won't make it. Like you say, everyone's story is unique.

The drugs work very well short term. Their efficacy lessen with time and eventually you would want to quit something that no longer works. And the terrible side effects of the psychiatry drugs would also make you want to quit. And then you would become very surprised because your doctor who prescribed them can't help you quit.🤯

Saffron is scientifically proven to treat depression better than medications but, vulnerable adults get trapped into a corrupt system of medications that cause severe and irreversible harm. There is a thing called cruelty and that is what doctors inflict when they prescibe these medications. All antipsycotics should be banned and natural plants should be available rather than antidepressants. Doctors should also be held to account for human rights violations.
@deehitcher8906

Totally agree. These doctors sit there and prescribe concoctions of meds not knowing precisely how they interact but if they do interact, no harm done, try these two instead. I'd love to see these doctors take the meds themselves for any length of time. It's a horrible horrible system. There's no cure or end zone in sight - they just happily proceed to dose us all up. I've had confrontations with my doctors a few times. I quit meds without advise which was bad idea and they told me so after. But the lithium just dulls me, holds me back. I know I have a deep energy within that's detrimentally being suppressed.

I was only taking it for 2 weeks this time & it made me feel awful so I quit 2 days ago-cold turkey. I'm hoping there won't be withdrawals. I also don't judge those who need the drugs, I just think, for me, there has to be a better way.

Just a thought from me - These 6 steps can be applied even before you start with the medications (drugs), and prevent you from even starting with them because those steps are actually EVERYTHING everyone needs to be okay and feel better if they are ill... :) I regret I ever started with the medications because of all the side-effects I have experienced and now the awful withdrawal effects, I really wish my doctor told me about these alternatives I learned from this video, before putting me on SSRI and mood-controlling pills. I think that we all go to our doctors to get that kind of support instead of just a prescription and no moral and emotional support at all. Sport is a really good thing too, because it helps you balance the chemicals in your body, and getting a dog is one of the best choices I made in my way of beating anxiety and depression. :) Good luck everybody!

I tried to make it clear to her that none of the drugs which had been prescribed to me helped at all while warning her and my siblings about that and about her submitting to another wholly unecessary drug that was prescribed to her as well only because she was female while the number of drugs being prescribed to her were increasing not becoming less in number is probable going to be for the most part not helpful to her as well. It all fell on deaf ears until she got Cancer and then died. Developing Cancer is more probable when being exposed to physical stressors including foreign substances in the body. None of the real causal factors as to why my sister was not well was being acknowledged. Instead all of the professionals concerned were onlly interested in calling her Schizophrenic. Well who wouldn't have shown the set of signs and symptoms some professionals call being Schizophrenic from time to time while going through things like starvation while trying to breast feed and then heat exhaustion, heat stroke, extreme intimidation tactics, getting tasered more than once, etc.

I was taking a THC tincture to compensate for an anandamide dysfunction. I created a knock-off no-cbd Sativex. Helped treat M.S. related muscle spasticity. "Good question!" I tried coming of them cold turkey and it was holy hell. To me, its entrapment and im not free to do or go where i see fit in peace. These doctors have clinics to keep me on them and have made several phone calls to find a clinic to get me off. Basically, its about their wallet and never about what I want. Im in a constant state of withdrawals and thats not my idea of help! Drug rehabs, no we dont do that...Phyc wards, no such place exists unless they can shove a pill down you throat. This i have to say is intentional on every level. I am no better off on them, than i was before. These phyc meds are supposed to blase the way to recovery but its less costly to say thats all there is to recovery. The industry is conditioned to say youll be on them for the rest of your life and i believe thats so far from the truth.

Though it's off topic, my suggestion is to learn and get used to nonviolent communication with yourself. As soon as I changed my inner programming, removed all the judgements, self deprecation, comparisons to others, social pressure etc.. the chemicals in my body followed. Now I simply won't react the same way to problems as I used to. From my research, I find that it's the practice which if not completely cures, but greatly alleviates psychiatric problems for most people.

Woke up we’re always horrible as I had what I call, loops of fear as the day went on it got slightly better. Your doing so well with your cutting down. Does anyone have any advice for coming off clozapine? My psychiatrist and I both decided after 8 years it was time to reduce (gradually) from 175mg to nothing from March-November. We did it very slowly and looked out for any symptoms. Nothing happened until I finished my final dose where my sleep was taken away. I've been struggling with insomnia since and it's been about 3 months. I used to sleep 10 hours on this med, for 8 years, since it was so sedating. I think my mind is just adapting to not having it, but it's scary when you wake up all night and you don't feel rested. I have not had any psychosis or anything (it was thought I was misdiagnosed, I was in the hospital 8 weeks and they were unaware of exactly what I had). I am seeing a sleep specialist finally tomorrow but would love any tips!!!
@Molly-sv9yn
@Molly-sv9yn 5 жыл бұрын
I should also mention that I was on 175mg for a while, which is relatively lower than some people's dosages. However, the long term effects of this drug are scary and if I do not need to be on it the rest of my life, I wanted to at least try to come off it and see how my body would react. I had one psychosis symptom which is what landed me in the hospital to begin with, but after coming out of the hospital on this drug and on lithium, I was able to return to usual life. I did not have ANY other episodes or symptoms. I've always had anxiety, which I still dealt with, but like I said the main symptom of coming off this is insomnia and feeling spacey throughout the day. I am praying it is simply withdrawal and that it will pass.

I found it hard to eat as before because my feet hurt. I phoned police knowing if I didn't get out of my apartment was in new area knew no one. I would die. I hadn't eaten in over 2 weeks three meals, not because I didn't want to I did make my self eat soup daily that is not enough. They found me B 12 deficient B 6 and mildly anemia. no other testing. I also diagnose late in life hypo thyroid. No I am getting nutritional deficient testing. I build up my immune system eat organic and exercise walking I sleep well always do. I believe I can come off but slower. With two people checking in on me when it is 250 or so daily. calling and when I sense something have them come to make sure I eat well. If there was a consent form for the side-effects or some system that monitored side-effects so no human has to suffer . Like a real structured protocol like- here is this drug , it will help in this , it can harm this , take your time to decide , sign a convent form if you want to try the drug , start with a trial , and call them back in , give them a checklist to see what it helps in them and what it harms , then decide with the doctor and others , and then cycle repeat …. Imagine how this honest to goodness approach will SAVE so many lives . INSTEAD here’s the drug and drugs , here’s the dose - usually high and higher and higher , nahhh no side-effects really happen , oh really?!? , some people’s life magically improves - woohooooo ; some people dying at home unable to get out of bed and shower and getting suicidal and eventually vomiting suicide . PS the drugs SHOU/led be given after taking labs -- but wonderfully with psychotropic drugs there are NO labs being done , it’s all hypothesis of what could be happening in the brain -- and here are the drugs that will fix the brain . Period . Don’t question the King and Queen Psychiatrist and Doctor .

And the ironic thing is I can't even find weed where I live but I sure can find Meth and other pills so much more readily. It's scary. I would be so much happier just smoking weed rather than being DEPENDENT (not addicted big difference) on these damn benzos.

I have had like 10-20 happy moments in last 13 years..since Corona been somewhat better?... I feel better just seeing online for 20 minutes a week. I actually find the in between staff to psychaitrist more troubling... At least with psychiatrist u know there's some education they have gone thru rigirously especially in somewhat reputed hospitals...but religious hospitals were always negative....despite their insistentce they are not.

The only time I ever wanted to commit suicide was when I had akathesia. It was the nightmare of my life. I only knew that it was a drug result because I got akathesiait after a colonoscopy years later and some drug they gave me caused it. I had 24 hours of hell, and that is when I put it together that was the symptom that made me want to die. I kept saying the medication makes me feel worse and no one would believe me. Years later , my psychiatrist said that this happened a lot in 1970.

Taking fluvoxamine since last 5 years. Earlier I used to take Fluvoxetine since I was 7. I am trying to taper off Fluvoxamine 50mg. I successfully did it from 200 to 50 in last 2 years. Now the things are getting harder. The problem is that I can't get fluvoxamine in liquid form. It's not available in 25mg or lower doses either. Does this work if i try removing 6.25 every month ( i need to cut the pill into 8 pieces). I am really scared because I tried 50 to 0 in last 3 months before and failed. This time I am fixing 8 months for tapering for 50 to 0. Please advise if I can try any other method. Can I soak it in liquid myself and do that liquid tapering. I thought it is too complex and might be dangerous as well. Does going 6.25 off every month sounds doable? Please help.
