This was a live performance in London @ the Royal Festival Hall in 1986 also with Morris Pleasure on bass and Paul Kreibich on drums. Enjoy!

Egads! Ray Charles loves Jeff Pevar's playing! All the way back in 1986 Jeff knows how to add excitement and energy to the song without stealing the show. Such perfect timing and respect for Ray Charles' style and rhythm. You make Ray Charles so happy. What a great history of musical intimacy between great artists.

Ray was getting off to Jeff's playing here like I've never seen him do- he usually had to chide his guitarists to give him that nasty- Jeff's got it in spades and of course uses it tastefully here. Tremendous.

I am honored, David. What comes around goes around. This approach is hugely influenced by my teachers Larry Carlton, Robben Ford and BB King... the list goes on for sure but I’d like to think that musicians are combo of whatever tics in their own individual hearts and everything they’ve ever heard and been inspired by. The fact that your comment suggests that this musical baton keeps getting passed on is a beautiful sentiment! Thank you!

Another reason why Pevar is such a great musician. Look at the variety of songs posted under his name. Listen to how he plays each one. His tone, the notes he plays & the notes he doesn't play. Yes, he's got them all but plays only the ones that fit the song. That's the difference. There are a rare few who fit their playing to the song: Steve Lukather, John Jorgenson, Caleb Quaye & Jeff Pevar. Most others leave their mark with a signature tone, licks or groove. Peev gets it.

When you came out in front stage and took your solo, I was reminded of this clip, with you and Morris jammin' on this, one of my all time favorites. Was disappointed however that you didn't lay out on this funkalicious number 😔 Nevertheless, listening to all of those tunes Brother Ray stamped with his one of a kind signature sound was mesmerizing. Not true. I was encouraged to play whatever I felt was appropriate. That being said, Ray told me during a recording session we did together in his studio, part of a conversation we had between takes that he learned from Basie. He said “that man never played a lot of notes but every one he did play meant something that you can feel. That it’s not a matter of how many notes you play but rather WHATS IN EACH NOTE! “ with that in mind the rest is history...
