Wonderful interview with MissPeggy. We know she was in God’s power every time she kicked her shoes off and gave that cute little giggle. Love, love, love the McKameys. God’s blessings to a beautiful family!

Love Sister Peg! Great woman of God! A lot of "gospel" musicians have forgotten why they do what they do. It's refreshing to see that she still sings for Jesus.

Peg is a hero to many, many people who followed her familys ministry for so many years. Those who were privileged to see them in concert never got entertainment, they had church. The wonderful testimony they have and the anointing they have bc of it sets them apart. They've served well, and richly deserve a rest.

Hi Jeremy. I just stumbled upon this interview, and I have a story I love to share about my experience of learning about The McKameys. Way back in the mid 70s in rural central Arkansas during one of our severe February ice storms that down power lines and left us in the dark at night for weeks at a time, my great grandfather and I would sit and listen to an AM radio station, and the song "The Bride coming in" by The McKameys is forever imprinted in my mind. From that moment I fell in love with Southern Gospel Music. The sounds of The McKameys, The Happy Goodmans, The Rex Nelons Singers, The Hoppers, The Cathedrals, and oh how we laughed at the story of "The Three German Police Dogs" told by Wendy Bagwell and The Sunlighters. I'm an African American, and this music ruined me for black church music. I was even a member of the church choir at Mike Huckabee's Immanuel Baptist Church in Pine Bluff, Arkansas during my teenage years. I'm in my mid 50s now, and I am a long way from Arkansas. I'm now a big fan of Bluegrass Music, but I contribute my love for Bluegrass and Old Time/Appalachian Music to the sounds of these Southern Gospel groups that I grew to love so long ago on those cold, dark wintery nights snuggled up to the warmth of a wood stove and basking in the soft glows and sweet smells of a coal oil lamp. Those precious memories. Oh, how they linger. 🌹

Trapper4265, that is such an amazing story. As my old boss and DJ friend Leon Schneider (our first Exclusive guest) used to say "it's the life-changing power of a Gospel song." It's been too long since I heard "The Bride coming in," I need to go back and relisten to it. Yes, the 70s, 80s, and 90s were some truly amazing decades in Gospel Music, because some of those groups have since retired or the individuals passed away. Wendy Bagwell could tell a story like no other. While we enjoy all types of music including African-American style Gospel, there is truly something special about Southern Gospel, and it encompasses so many musical variations to it. That is great that you were out of Governor Huckabee's church in Arkansas. What state are you currently out of Sir?

I love them and they use her maiden name for the group! 💘 We know the daughter's Connie and Cheryl sing but wonder if people know they have 2 sons too? 🤔 Maybe, the son's don't like the spotlight? Would like to know about them a lil'? If they do anything behind the scenes?
@sandyjuntunen40883 жыл бұрын
Contact their ministry directly. They have a FB page if you're on that, but probably have a website too. Peg will answer letters and messages when possible. The group Mckameys began with Pegs family before she married Ruben so that's why they kept the name. Hope that helps!

Wasn’t that something they retired before the Covid pandemic. God just slowed them down a little bit before the pandemic hit so it wouldn’t be so hard on them
