3:34 I think the concavity is a manufacturing thing. Due to the air pocket, when the foam cools, it shrinks or warps that way. I am seeing that in other shoes like the Altra Escalante 2.5 and Brooks Hyperion Tempo. But for those I think its worse, because it is uneven warpage where the shoe doesnt lay flat on a flat surface and its different between the left shoe to the right shoe. On the Tempo, if i remember correctly it is the right shoe where the front left part of the shoe curls up a lot more. And it was confirmed that it is like that on other pairs as well where it is consistently the right shoe and same spot on the shoe. It is warpage and basically a manufacturing defect. They really need to address that as it looks like it can affect the way you land.
@kofuzi3 жыл бұрын
hmmm. that sounds plausible, although I've not noticed that in my Escalante 2.5 or Hyperion Tempo. I've seen that a lot of shoes are designed not to lay flat on a surface, such as Boson 9 or Evoride, but i think those are intentional
@ChickenNoodle8833 жыл бұрын
@@kofuzi You should check your tempos, i believe i could tell even visually from one of your videos on them. Push the heels of the shoes against a wall so that they are equal distance from you, then look at the font of the shoes from eye level. For the escalantes i had the grey ones. The left and right were warped differently. Its not as bad as the tempos but visually noticeable if you look for it.

Totally agree with you on these feeling far better with a quicker pace. They’re way more comfortable all around but seemingly a bit clunky at slower speeds (like the 37). Once you pick up the pace, they’re far smoother and work better. Interesting as I’ve always had the Peg for nearly every run but it seems like it’s getting a bit more specific now. I found the 37 really interesting. The midsole was slightly firm dispute being react foam that we see in the infinity react. I absolutely love my Pegasus 36’s found them great for tempo runs and faster runs as well. The 37 was unstable to me or at least for most people as well. The upper at least on the 38 seems just over built. The ride was firm and unstable and not necessary enjoyable from a ride experiences. In regards of that foot pain. If you notice in the 35 shield and the 38 by moving that decoupling to the left more it less supportive and allows for more pronation. In the 36-37 the zoom x foam flexed from the middle with the flex groove and the react foam could be to stiff and with that foot pronating it’s kinda slapping if that make sense. I would recommend an insole as well to possible slow that down. Maybe a medium curex or something? Hope it works out for you. I’ve been loving the content recently. I just got my Reebok’s forever energy 3 and let me tell you I’m in love

As an owner of the previous Pegasus 35, 36 and most recently the 37’s, which I really loved but found excessive outsole wear I was so excited to get my 38’s and try them out. Unfortunately the extra thick material in the tongue of the new model is a problem for me, making them less roomy in the upper part of my foot and less comfortable while running. I really hope that it’ll break-in a bit over the next few runs and loosen up, otherwise I’ll be getting another pair of 37’s instead.

I came from various Saucony's to the Peg35 and then 36. Both great shoes. 37 I had to go up another half size! (11.5 to 12!) But it was "ok" nothing special. Felt heavy and bulky. The Peg 38 I've only done a 6mile, a 7mile and a 11mile so far. And I'm not sold on it yet. Not had the forefoot issue Kofuzi has, but on the longer run, my right foot 2nd toe is rubbing a bit, getting a bruise under the nail. I put that down to the Laces being too far out to the sides so lockdown isn't perfect. There's no heel slipping like the 37 though. Agree with Kofuzi that it feels hotter too! The upper is thicker everywhere and I get slight ankle bone rubbing as well. Suspect I'll be changing brands when these are used up.

I had a similar problem with my peg 37's as you are having with the 38's. The left air bag felt uncomfortable under foot. It settled down for me and became my favourite shoe of last year. As the peg's started to wear out I bought the Novablasts. I wish I hadn't. The Peg 37's are much better to run in. For me the Novablast are just too soft and weirdly bouncy. They actually cause me some lower back issues. My area is hilly and that could be the issue. Running up and down hills in squishy, bouncy foam just isn't fun for me. I am probably going to get the 38's or maybe just get another pair of 37's if I can find them.

I had to return them twice. First time I ordered 10.5 as usual and they fit but when compared to my older Pegasus models the shoes were about 1 inch longer side by side. They def didn't have the arch that the older Pegasus have. I walked in them for a while and my right foot cramped up. I got the size 10 and it also fit but was a bit snug. They didn't cramp my foot but pushed my toes in. The size 10 was still a bit longer compared to my older Pegasus side by side.

I don't think they needed all that extra padding, or completely new upper...just a little width in the forefoot, and a little length on the tongue would be quite enough 😅 at least for me, because other than that, I loved the 37, it worked for me amazingly...I got novablast now, didnt get the 38, because of the weight, and that the midsole looked like it didnt change, and I needed something a bit softer...so I'm kinda surprised you said it felt softer 😅 now, I'm wearing the 37 as my casual shoe, and after 630km on them, when they started feeling dead, the midsole is very soft and comfy to walk in, even though it's half size too small for me 😂 The forefoot thing might be caused by lacing being a bit too tight - at least that's what I get when I lace up too tight...Also might be the shoe's issue, I felt sharp pain in the same spot in the 37 a few times, and same as you, it went away as I was running faster
@souljaboi621213 жыл бұрын
I agree with you Mike, it’s a slight improvement from last year, but my custom’s didn’t have that “wow factor” other than the fact that I could get the higher arch and wide options to with, along with my color option. My verdict is still out on mine as well. I returned my 37s after I just didn’t see the cost effectiveness for the lack of benefits, this year is better, for sure. But after one run for me, it’s still on the chopping block. 🤷🏾♂️

Excellent video and review! The problem that you stated in the video with your right foot someone else reported that same issue in their left foot. What I do not get is if this shoe is basically the same shoe as the 37's in the sole why is this coming up if it did not happen in the 37's? Do you recommend this shoe over the 37's? Interesting. Just checked my 'waiting to be used' pair of standard 36s. Flat with no concavity. But perhaps it was added to counter the way the 35 & 36 would convex and become more unstable as the mileage racked up. I want to like these but they just give me foot fatigue. It runs from the bottom of my feet all the way up my calves. I felt the same with the turbos too. Maybe I’m just way too used to using carbon fiber plated shoes. It’s just weird because my old Pegasus 2017-18 never gave me feet fatigue.

Along with shoes how much tip you got to propagate it

Maybe you SHOULD get another pair of 38's. Maybe 3. Hard to make a shoe exactly the same. Perhaps on that slab of rubber one area was more dense. Who knows. To base an impression on one sample...

Maybe it's the tread...#justsaying Great video. Nice design. The Turbo2, for me, wasn't so good for slower paces....Quite uncomfortable due to the mid-shoe area being so flexible.

Im a newbie runner here. I also experienced that right foot issue on my pegasus 37 after 5km. Not sure also what is happening but its making my right foot numb. 😢

Running so close to that ledge. Almost thought you were going to fall in the water

Try running with an SL20 and see if it hurts on the right foot also. Since the Sl 20 (1st) has less front cushioning and didn't hurt you last time that may be a good benchmark.

Jordan Thomas mentioned that he can experience issues when going from lower drop to higher drop, so i might run in the SL20 before running in the peg 38 again both as a control, as you suggest, and to acclimate myself to the higher drop of the Peg 38

From doing a basic research, I am hesitating between the Pegasus 38 (well presented by Kofuzi here ☺️ thank you!) and the Hoka Mach 4 for my next training shoes. Does anyone have opinions on this? 😀

Are these the vomero 14? Lol. Can they make the Pegasus the same way they made the 36. I absolutely love the Pegasus 36!

Kinda disappointed in these. I loved the 37s and after a few weeks running in the 38s, my feet were killing me. Switched to some Saucony shoes I found on sale at Marshalls. So much more comfortable. Not sure what happened with the 38s, but hopefully they make the next version more like the 37s

I got the same pain in my right foot to. Only done 15k in them. I've put it down to breaking then in. That do you think?

The 38 is wider in the forefoot compared to the 37?
@avyyt28403 жыл бұрын
I felt that sensation as well in the middle of my foot with this shoe but after running more with the shoe I guess my foot adjusted to it or maybe it was me but overall it’s been a tuff journey with this shoe but overall it’s good for me

pegasus or rather nike shoes are more suitable for those with normal or narrow feet. wide feet like mine hurt a lot in the middle when i run in those nike shoes.

I just bought the 39 and I can really feel a pain from the zoom unit in my right foot. Really uncomfortable
@kofuzi Жыл бұрын
I thought the 39 was better than the 38, but the pegasus line has been in trouble since it went to React foam as the midsole carrier

Didn't that pain also happened with the Zoom Fly 3? Is that the same pain? funny it only happens on Nike
@kofuzi3 жыл бұрын
Different thing. This is more like stepping on a bruise. The thing with the zoom fly 3 was more like there was a burr or something sharp underfoot.
