Very good job. This is exactly how I do breadboard ends, except I try to have an odd number of tenons so one to glue is in the middle. I've taken apart tables over 100 years old to refurbish them, and this same method was used, but with no glue. I always enjoy your videos, and look forward to new ones!

Perfect glue management for expansion. From gluing one tenon, to only gluing dowels to the breadboard and not the other three tenons, well done sir.

I was taught to put one tennon right in the center with a fixed peg and glue on it. The rest of the tennons undersized, peg holes slotted, no glue. That's straight from Mark Adams and he's definitely a master woodworker

ya you definitely can and if you have a center tenon that's a great practice. This is a desk and wanted to allow the board to most of the moving on the side of the desk that faces the wall and limit the seasonal movement of the wood at the front of the desk where you can see the differences in how flush the breadboard is

nice clean lumber. we don't get that here in the UK. you slotted the peg holes in the tenons to allow for seasonal movement which is good. but the mortices are a tight fit to the tenons in their width, which really makes slotting the holes irrelevant as the main table top is cross-grain fixed to the breadboard end. if the moisture content of the lumber is nice and low it probably won't be a problem but the top might crack if it shrinks and the tenons are held fast in the breadboard ends

I love watching your precision 👌 🔥 I am new to woodworking and I have a question 😅 When you made the holes on the tenons somewhat an oval/pill shape, is that to allow for seasonal movement over time? I've noticed that that is a concern in woodworking 🤔

Hi. My name is Jakub and I am from Poland. I couldn't find your email anywhere, so I wanted to ask you a few things in the comments section: 1. What brand woodworking electrical equipment do you recommend? 2. What brand of accessories do you recommend? 3. How much space do I need to make a workshop like yours? If possible, record a video showing your workplace in detail. Regards

I'm a novice woodworker myself, and I have a question about the glue up. I understand the need for the slot to allow for the movement of the wood. Is the tenon with all of the glue the base to dictate movement to go in both directions?

Wood movement at the middle will be far less extreme than toward the edges, so he probably thought it would be a good anchor while allowing the other mortises to move around.

Just a question. Wouldn't it have been better to drill the holes in the tenon through the outer holes while under compression from the clamps?
@dustylumberco

The holes are offset to create a draw bore where the peg pulls the joint together so you have to drill separately
