I must say, them Baldwin 10-12-Ds always look good in any colour other than their WWI black livery. Peggy's red livery, both your model and historically, must be one of the best liveries the class has ever worn.

I see you spared no expense on the transmitter, hahaa. Be advised, there are plenty of low cost 2.4 GHz transmitters that only take 4 AA batteries which is a big improvement in my estimation

WOW!! What a find! Thank YOU SO MUCH for putting this footage out there. Brought back fond, distant memories of the mineral lines around Mosley Common (& BR line at Ellenbrook).Until now I had to make do with a solitary image of one of those fantastically grimy saddle tanks heading north from Mosley Common as seen in DJ Sweeney's COLOUR OF A LANCASHIRE TRIANGLE.My cousins lived at Ellenbrook & I have hazy memories as an 8 year old seeing the dying days of steam on our annual trips north from London to visit family.Do you have any more footage to share of the lines around Mosley Common please (particularly that section of line north from Mosley Common, that paralleled Newearth & Bridgewater Rd)?

What’s a good locomotive of a decent size in live steam to work with? I’ve been looking at Russell by Roundhouse Engineering since I was absolutely hooked on it since I found it through your videos, but are there any engines you consider superior for some reason or another over Russell that can handle 45mm track?
@GandyDancerProductions

Hi, you can't go wrong with a Roundhouse loco. They are reliable locos with plenty of pull and good customer service.

Hi, I built it from a kit supplied by Wrightscale. I explain it in more detail in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eYTQgHhtndGdiMk. Wrightscale has a website: wrightscale.co.uk/baldwin_4_6_0.html. I'm not sure whether Malcolm still supplies the engine.

@GandyDancerProductions
@GandyDancerProductions 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Dan, no need for a 5" railway at home with 8 or so club tracks within 40 miles of here. I will build a 16mm scale track though.

Hi Alfred, this is 16mm to the foot scale based on a 2 feet gauge loco so running on 32mm gauge track or '0' gauge track.

I really enjoyed this video. The engine is beautiful. I was just test steaming my 5 inch gauge steam engine. A custom model. Just a curiosity, how often do you run your 32mm gauge steam engines.
@GandyDancerProductions
@GandyDancerProductions 3 жыл бұрын
As often as I can but probably only once a month this time of the year. They are like car and need to be run often rather than standing. Just oil the moving parts well and clean the boiler and they will last forever.
@thevioletvalleyrailway346
@thevioletvalleyrailway346 3 жыл бұрын
@@GandyDancerProductions I take much a similar approach but I try to run to a schedule like on a real railway. I have three steam engines and run the also as much as I can which is quite a lot. During this time of year about every weekend. During the summer there is a steam engine running every day. I know some people who run their locos one or twice a year and not only is is bad for the loco but it’s practically wasted money as if you run every day for 2 months then you enjoy your loco 61times and even if it needs repairs after that it will be a lot better than if the engine needs repairs every 5 years but during that time you have only ran it 6 times. Thank you for your time. I really enjoy your videos and hope to once maybe meet you in the future. Best regards SAM.
