Hello Semingson! Thanks for the video and it really helps. I just wonder if you can share your presentation, or the complete video of this workshop as I find it very relevant to the subject matter I am searching for now a days to design a training program for ECD teachers on all what you are talking about. It would be a great help if you could generously share one of the two; the presentation or the whole workshop video. Thanks!

Very Well Done! I believe that we should push for a National Phonological Testing Program. This would help in keeping our children from slipping through the Phonemic Education Crack that most of us unknowingly slipped through when we went to school, and is widening everyday. It is our obligation to protect our young, and old from continuous ignorance. FR

Excellent delivery of conventional wisdom, Peggy! However, I hope you will consider four changes to what you were taught: (1) Say "English language has 52 letters" (26 upper + 26 lower) Aa Bb Cc Dd Ee Ff Gg Hh Ii Jj Kk Ll Mm Nn Oo Pp Qq Rr Ss Tt Uu Vv Ww Xx Yy Zz And be sure your students know that none of these letters are vowel sounds or consonant sounds, although some are used to SPELL both! A pure sounds-based perspective (ABCs are subservient) will require you to: (2) Say "different letters SPELL different sounds" (letters don't technically make sounds) (3) Say "map SPELLINGS onto individual sound units" (4) Say "SOUND/letter relationship" (because spoken language precedes written) Happy teaching!
