The Bible says you can kill out of self-defense, if your life and families life is in danger and you have no other options.

You can kill in self defense if it's a life or death situation, but tbh you're better off getting good with some strong pepper spray than doing this weird knife dueling. Knife vs knife dueling is so rare and almost never happens except when both parties are having an agreed upon fight or engaged in criminal activity. Self defense situations involving pepper spray happen pretty often and it's something that can be learned in minutes vs taking years to become a knife duelist for a one in a billion chance of ever using it. Besides, real self defense is all those snap decisions you make to avoid, escape or win the fight and get home, not being the grandmaster of some specialized kind of fighting. Knife fighting might be cool and fun in a controlled environment but if you have time to get that thing out you should probably be running, and if you're being attacked with a knife by surprise you won't have time to pull your own.

Moses killed people, Abraham killed people, God commanded Israel to wipe out whole cities (1 Sam 15). Elijah the prophet killed people, Samson was born to kill people, and the list goes on and on. It’s clear that when the Bible says don’t murder/ kill it means don’t shed innocent blood. Heck Peter even smites two people to death for lying about how money they gave to the church.
