His dribbles were far more effective, not to mention highly unpredictable, due to his peculiar style and unique techniques that essentially left the defenders dumbfounded. Messi's dribbles are highly predictable mostly due to his penchant to cut in from the right and use his left foot to unleash a shot. On this note, Pele was two-footed which added to his unpredictability because no one knew which foot would he use to shoot, or the direction he would take after executing a body feint, or the kind of shot he would take. Messi's main asset has always been his explosiveness and low center of gravity. Messi, mostly, needs a slaloming run to finish his game, even though with age Messi has developed a less mobil aspect to his game with added playmaking and freekick-taking abilities. This 2018 World Cup showed us, how he can be easily and efficiently nullified (like Croatia did so easily), either with zonal marking or with a dogged and fast defensive midfielder like Kante. Messi was practically not allowed to play his natural game that he typically plays at Barcelona. Pele, on this attribute, is way above. Why? Because he never had to rely on explosiveness all the time; a static Pele was equally a scary and match-winning proposition. Add to that, Pele's ball control - I've never seen anyone with that level of control. He could, by himself, create his own chances and set up play for his teammates (typical of playmakers) through his extraordinary ball control. His sense of anticipation: he seemed to always know beforehand the movements and reactions of the opposing defenders - when they would miss or fail to receive the aerial balls, instead the ball coming to him. That dribbling skill where he kicked the ball at an opponent only for the ball to rebound and return to his leg while he made way past that player; and that one trick where he pushed the ball to an empty space where the ball rolled back towards him (a bit like yo-yo) - these were marvelous pieces of never-seen magic. Lastly, his propensity for the spectacular: his bicycle kicks, Panna tricks, backheels and side-flicks, lobbing the ball over players and scoring goals, thunderbolt of a shot, thumping as well as sublime freekicks, and others I'm forgetting. I might have been rambling here, but these are some of the stark technical differences I can think of now. There are definitely more...

Superb! And you arent rambling at all man. For some reason, certain people are unaible to understand what they are watching. They'll be watching a 17 year old Pele, receive a long, high ball from 60 yards on the edge of the box, then proceed to chest it, control it with his right knee, use his left foot to roll it over the defenders' foot and then shoot it immediately, the whole sequence done without the ball ever touching the ground and they never think to themselves "who the fuck does that?" and "who the fuck would do that in a World Cup Final". They'll see him score his famous solo goal in the Final, and all focus on the dribble over the head of the defender, nobody notices how it took him less than a second to make it a goal scoring opportunity out of nothing, when he jumps, his back turned to the goalie, and not only controls the ball, but lays it right in front of his feet whilst getting past the defender all in one motion done in the air! They'll see him score against France in 1962, and nobody notices that he receives a 50 yard high ball on the back of his head and instead of letting it land on the ground or delay his movement to try and control it with his foot, he proceeds to use the SIDE OF HIS HEAD to lay the ball perfectly even on the ground to score with his left foot. Who does that?

Most important, by stats expert, Pelé is the most decisive player of all time, also taking in consideration only finals or only matches against important teams. Also, the share of helping his team to win (by comparing the matches when played with matches when was absent in club or national team) is better than Maradona, Messi or Ronaldo at club and at national. Then by making ratios and correlations(for complex relations of different particularity/aspects of the game) between these stats we can see objectively who is better in those aspects.
