Bird Chats with Orange Audubon Society is pleased to have Michael Brothers presenting on Pelagic Birding Off the East Coast of Florida. Pelagic birding is going out on a boat far enough to see birds that do not normally come near shore.
Michael retired several years ago after 15 years as Executive Director at the Marine Science Center in Ponce Inlet. He still leads pelagic trips off Florida, including some upcoming trips with American Bird Conservancy. These trips may extend 100 miles out to canyons beyond the Gulf Stream.
An expert on gulls and other Florida birds, Michael is a member of the Florida Ornithological Society Records Committee and is the Florida editor for the journal North American Birds.
In addition to leading birding tours throughout Florida and the Okefenokee Swamp, Michael has led trips to the Galapagos Islands, Kenya, Machu Picchu and the Amazon. Orange Audubon appreciates his popular gulls trip each year for the NORTH SHORE BIRDING FESTIVAL.
Michael's Shorebirds of Florida presentation for Orange Audubon from 3 years ago has over 2000 views on our KZbin channel!
Recorded March 7, 2024. 43 people live.
