Water purification tabs would be my choice rather than boiling in the foil. You could use the foil over and over with tabs, but boiling in it would degrade it pretty fast. Just make sure to carry something to help yourself, and maybe a Bic lighter in case you are with someone who does not know how to use a fero rod and you are injured. Fire is so important.

I do not disagree, just couldn't get them to fit. In addition, this is not designed to be a long term kit, so degradation is not as much a consideration.
