Pelikan M800 Green Demonstrator Fountain Pen Review

Hello friend. It's been a while since I have checked out a KZbin video. Have you checked with Pelikan on how to clean that out of the section? I've said it before and I'll say if for time, you handwriting is a thing of beauty. The pen itself is alright. I have the Stone Garden, and I don't feel the urge for another M800, but I would like to get the IB nib. My heart is more with the M1000. The clear demo is something though, inky section and all.

Hey hey!! Thanks for the kind words. I have not been able to find a solution to the nib section problem. I decided to just live with it. The 3 Pelikan Clear Demonstrators [2x M1005 and 1x m805], I plan to keep long term. So, I would not worry about the section inkiness, and embrace it :) :) I also prefer the M1000 size. Though I wish the nibs were a bit more re-assuring. It, however, is such a joy to write with :) Good to hear from you again :)

4:55 the location where the nib housing screws into the section seems very ill-considered. They should've set it where the section meets the barrel (like you find in any other conventional demonstrator). By the way, have you ever considered fitting an M1000 nib onto a Jinhao X159? I saw a picture, where someone had stuck an M1000 nib onto a Jinhao X159. Apparently, they took the M1000 nib out of the feed housing unit and transplanted it onto the Jinhao X159 feed. I'm guessing you can also do the same with the Jinhao 9019, since they use the same housing.

Pelikan demonstrates do need a redesign for sure. I have not yet taken an m1000 nib out of the nib unit. I think it is best left alone as it is so hard to fix once the tines are messed up. I have not considered putting it in 9019. I have put MB 149 nib, and worked like a charm.

@@Shak-MD yes, i noticed you did transplant an MB 149 nib onto the Jinhao. that's why when I saw the post of someone transplanting an M1000 nib onto the Jinhao, I wanted to get your thoughts.

Damn so sorry about that grip section for your clear demonstrators, Shak. But the green demonstrator is beautiful ^_^ I’m not much of a demonstrator pen person myself, so I opted out of this m800 even though the sales were amazing this fpd for those m800 XD thanks for sharing yours! I really love that Montblanc ink but they’re sold out everywhere or it is stupid expensive lol

Thanks for your perspective. I found the best deal on the 40 anniversary!! This demonstrator was also a good price! :) Maybe there are better deals out there, but I found these were the best deals. About the ink, no one said a friend can't send you a sample :) :)

Thanks for the detailed video! That grip section would also drive me nuts. Have you tried temperature cycling with DI water? I would fill the demonstrator with RT or a little cooler DI water and then let it soak for 6 hours in a glass with warm DI water say 30 deg C (repeat for five cycles and check to see if you made a dent in the discolouration). The temperature and osmotic pressure differences should start to exchange the ink with the DI water … a very slow flush and a slow process for sure that would require some OK a lot of patience. 😅

Good review. I saw a bottle of Mont Blanc Brothers Grimm in a local store. I might go back and buy it because those MB SE inks are hard to find. I wish MB still made Corn Poppy Red. Modena red, why?

Thanks. It is a great dark green. Very very slightly water resistant. The newer Mohammad Ali green is more teal than green. Nice, too. I'm sad Rabbit 🐇 red is sold out everywhere, I'd have hoarded a second bottle.

I bought one from Atlas Stationers for FPD. It arrived yesterday, but I think it has a burr on the nib. It's not horrible but I think it's going to reguire to be tuned and smoothed. Anyone else have this problem? Regarding that problen with ink getting into the lower grip section; I saw that immediately, as soon as I inked the pen. I used a shimmer ink and I can see shimmer in that section. I would have been devastated if not for seeing the same thing happen to my Twisbi Eco Indigo/Bronze.

Thank you for this review - Atlas has this on sale for $400 and I was considering it if I could also add a 10% coupon and use my credit card cash back rewards… I will not purchase this pen!
