To be honest your one of the best fountain pen people on youtube, keep it up!

I found your comments about grip quite interesting. My own grip has changed quite a lot over the past few years, and my handwriting has changed a lot as well. Maybe there is something special about the fountain pen.

Great reviews! I am thinking about buying a M805 with EF nib, but kinda worried about their QC.

孙上了 Expect it to be hit and miss I suppose. My friend bought a EF M1000 this past weekend and he loves it and so far has no issues. My M1000 nib was fine (wrote a bit thicker than I expect a F nib to write but I already figured that would be the case) but I had a problem with the piston knob not sitting flush with the body. I will say that as many nib problems people complain about online, Pelikan is still my favorite fountain pen company and I've invested more into the brand than any other. If you buy from an authorized retailer near you then I can't see you haven't too many problems with warranty repairs if necessary. Worse comes to worst you can send it back to Germany and I hear they're very generous about their warranty; although you will have to pay for the shipping and wait quite a while.

***** Woo, thanks for this long reply! But the case is, I am Chinese, and Pelikan from an authorized retailer in China is like 3 to 4 times more expensive than, let's say, any online shop in Taobao or Ebay! So generally I buy pens from the Internet, especially Taobao. They offer really good price (for example 300 USD for a M805, of course, from a non-authorized retailer). However, the issue is, like you mentioned, it's gonna be a game of hit or miss. I am having quite an internal struggle now.

***** thanks for the reply! hmm ive always been going back and forth about pelikan pens, i only have montblanc 149 and 163 atm. Do you think the m800 is better or the m1000 pelikan as a first pelikan?

My personal preference is the M600 actually simply because it's also an easier pen to carry and not back heavy. Although I have been mainly using my M800 since I got it but it doesn't carry in my shirt pocket that well. The M1000 almost gets no use because while it is well balanced, it's just too big for any kind of pocket so it's not as convenient of a pen for me to use. I don't even use it that much as a desk pen since I have my Newton Sumpter that's my main desk pen. I think that if you were to only own one Pelikan pen I'd say either the M600 or M800. The M1000 is the current flagship pen but I feel they came out with that as a "me too" kinda deal to compete with Montblanc's 149. The benefit I give the M800 over the M600 is that you can disassemble the 800 for all kinds of maintenance and repair while the piston on the 600 series is held in by these plastic tabs that you kind of have to break/wear off. But most probably well never have to take apart their pens.

***** Hmm thanks for the input, and so now begins my journey on finding a m805 vibrant blue haha

If you ask me, the M800 blue ocean is a more subtle, beautiful pen. I might be biased since I own the M600 version though ;).
