This moment is so beautiful. The music. The feathers falling. The flashback where Pell flies a young Vivi over Alabasta, when she asks Pell why he trains to fight and who he'll fight. Reading this scene in the manga twice and now watching this very moment in the anime. Every time............ I cry. It brings tears to my eyes to see someone, someone who was willing to die for his people, for the princess, for the kingdom, to die. Rest in peace, Pell. May you enjoy happiness with Roger, Nojiko, Kuina, and Akira Toriyama in heaven.

Him surviving was actually a good thing. It was fake out deaths like this that made Ace death so much more shocking. Part of what makes it one of the greatest deaths in anime is the fact oda was notorious for not killing off characters. Everybody thought Ace would be fine and everything would work out

I've got a theory that when the bomb went off Pell being a true guardian of Alabasta a true Falcon he did die but he was revived due to his Devil Fruit Awakening as in the moment he decided to sacrifice his life for his people he was chosen to protect his mind and body caught up with the Falcon fruit and awakened after the bomb went off an stuff but that's just a theory a one piece theory
