I'm not going to rewatch my video... but if it was wet a rag or papertowel . If the silicone is dry you can cut excess away with a razor blade also any silicone on the outside of the house can be spray painted to match the pipe after it is dry. it will blend right in. Thansk for watching good luck with your install. I have a pellet stove in the basement and we love it, but you need an easy way to get the pellets down there.

just to add to the video. They do make liquid tight pipes that connect together without having to seal them with metal tape or silicone. They are more expensive but they make it loads easier if you should ever need to take apart your pipes for whatever reason. The odds are you will have to take them apart at some point.

I appreciate this video. I had no idea about the J-channel on the exterior. Since my vent is on the "weather" side of my outbuilding I will be looking in to that. Thank you.

Great video. Would you consider putting a piece of Durac cement board on the wall? to protect the sheetrock? I do not think pellet stoves would ever catch on fire....but do they release any heat in the rear when in use? Thanks

I understand the importance of the fresh air intake. Since the air intake is close to the exhaust outlet, is there a problem with exhaust gas getting sucked in with the fresh air? thanks

Smoke rises, I have had no problem. They do manufacture a unit like my setup. You can always put 2 holes in your wall and space them out.

You posted this so long ago not sure you will reply... but I need to now remove my pellet stove pipe (which was installed similar to yours), is there anyway to get those pipes apart once they are sealed or would you have to cut the pipe? Good video.

when installing your stove pipe, does it have to be a certain length? and does it have to have a t-pipe for cleaning.
@robertoramirez79010 жыл бұрын
From the research I have done, most manufacturers recommend at least a 3ft vertical rise to prevent backdraft. Cleanout T is really recommended to be able to clean out all the residue and avoid a fire.

I like your video. How do you like the Jamestown Stove? Around here, Quadra fire is supposedly one of the best. I haven't seen Jamestown, but I'm in Michigan.Thanks
@doublewide610 жыл бұрын
Linkscape1 I don't know much about Jamestown. I know they are well made by the the thickness of metal. I also really like the look of the stove and the used price, so I bought it. After having it for a few seasons the only problem is it is difficult to light. Quads are really popular around here. I guess people want stoves that their dealers can service. I do my own maintenance, so I'm not worried about a dealer servicing my stoves.

I installed a pellet stove recently. slightly different than this, went straight out the wall from the back of the stove and put my "T" and vent riser out side. used the two thimbles plus a duravent pipe kit. stove is about 9" from wall. only 4 " clearance was called for and manual says no backer board was needed. I'm alarmed at how hot the wall gets when the stove is on high. also wondering about that hot pipe inside my wall. I understand it's a exhaust pipe but I'm still concerned about that much heat inside my wall.
@linkscape19578 жыл бұрын
+Dre Sted I ended up buying a Quadra fire and I was also concerned about my wall being hot. however, I have felt it multiple times and it hasn't been hot at all. I'm pretty sure the thimble is supposed to dissopate the heat, so I don't think your wall should be hot. I would contact a local pellet stove installer/distributor and ask. I'm not sure if you are supposed to remove insulation or keep it away from the thimble or not. you might want to make sure the pipe is clean, blowing/venting properly as well.

May i ask, what did you used to clean that extra silicone off the pipe. Thanks

The Duravent pipe is a great design but butt-ugly. Pity they couldn't powder coat it so it actually could look good in a lounge room. Ok if you go out horizontal but up the wall installations look crap.

Why would you run the pipe up from the stove.. That is definitely not recommended.. Burns better cleaning straight out .. if your pipe gets hot at all it's because you didn't run pipe straight out
