Pelonis Space Heater from Wal-Mart (review)

This is a review of the Pelonis Space Heater purchased from Wal-Mart in 2018. We have been so pleased with the heat the space heaters put out. They have an automatic shut-off function if they tip over. They do stay on until you turn them off unless they overheat, but that being said, you really should not keep them on all the time you do need to give them periods of rest. We use our space heater to help heat the upstairs of her home since we have an old HVAC unit. We have two space heaters heating about 1200 to 1500 square feet. It works efficiently and comfortably.

Just got one for my bar in my garage so I wouldn't have to use my propane heater so much and let me tell you I get warm. Doesn't heat the whole garage but it heats me up where I sit great I love this thing! Thanks for the review!

I had mine over two years, don't use it much, every time I used it for 10 minutes or so it would shut down and didn't want restarted.

@@sefama1000 Not at all! You can hear it click quietly when turning on or off, and it makes a slight warm up sound when first turning on, but after that you won't notice the noise

Just bought a mainstays space heater from Walmarts website and they sent me a black one of these instead. Was hoping to see how to operate it. Guess I'll read the manual

Just plug it in, turn the dial to one or two (depends how much heat you want), then you can turn the heat higher or lower on the other dial. It is radiant heat, so there is no blower, but it puts out good heat none the less.

@@BethEHomeAndGarden oh wow, that was a quick response. On a 2 year old video no less, awesome. Yeah I read it has an auto setting as well, so that's cool. Maybe it will turn out good after all. I was just ill they sent the wrong one and it's all scratched up and the tape on the box was cut. I guess it was a return or something. Can I ask you one more thing? Have you used an extension cord with these at all? And if so, how did it hold up? I know it says not to, but the cords a bit short. Thanks

That sucks about it being scratched and dinged. I would return it. I have not used an extension cord with it. We actually still have the same two heaters from this review! One is working well, and one is like a temperamental woman and only works when it wants to 🤷‍♀️

Hmmmm, that doesn't sound normal. We have had ours a couple years now and don't have any browning on the white plastic.

We had two for the last 3 years. They worked well until this year. Now they are working at one level but not the next. I guess like all things, they must just wear out with time. If you find a repair video, send it my way please!

It makes noise as it turns on, but is not as loud as a bathroom vent fan. (If that gives you a reference) once its on and the heat is radiating, the noise subsides except for the occasional tick sound and reheat process

Mine worked for just a few times then it would shut off and not turn back on. I had to unplug it and wait a good while, then turn it back on. That will disappoint anyone who buys these. You yourself said one of yours was not working properly anymore. That is not acceptable for a simple electric heater with no moving parts. Our family had a 1950's electric heater that still worked decades later. What's with these poorly made things?

I understand your concern! I felt that way as well. But the grid does protect the coils from touching anything it could catch on fire with. Glad it helped!

No fan! Heat just rise, you have to sit right in front to get warm ,and I'm in Florida 60 in this living room not getting warm! Its feezing

This model does not have a fan, but using the radiant heat. If your room isn't warming by a couple degrees, you may have a faulty unit. I would take it back and exchange for another
