The CRASS label held its weight right alongside Small Wonder and Stiff!. The early 80s British stuff was really something. The other EP I really enjoy on the crass label is from the snipers. Check out their main track from the ep

Completely original and genre defying. They had the gift of talent to write, play and sing like no other group. Catchy? Oh you bet! Social message? Profound "yes". Though it hails from a different era, this stuff is timeless, a truly beautiful work of heart.

A - be - see - D Paranoia's killing me I'm dying on my aching feet What a way to go Roll up - Roll up People always stroll up Say "Why don't you grow up?" No thank you! Big cats, small cats Some cats are fat cats Those cats are bad cats What we gonna do? There's an awful lot of people in the world today There's an awful lot of trouble in the streets these days And it doesn't seem to matter what you do or say If a change is gonna come you've got to help it on its way A change is gonna come before too long I know Peace has gotta come, well, I could be wrong I know But I just don't know what I can do You don't trust me and I don't trust you I bet you wish you did and I know I do Why have you got secrets? Cause I know you have If you've got something to hide then it must be bad A change is gonna come before too long I know Peace has gotta come, well, I could be wrong I know But I just don't know what I can do You don't trust me and I don't trust you I bet you wish you did and I know I do Why have you got secrets? I'm 23 now but had Crass and Poison Girls patches on my parka through sixth form. Punk means you're different, not lonely.

Same! I've tried so hard to start a scene with other hardcore kids around me but the 10 or so "punks" I get are socially awkward guys or pop punk fans who never show up to band practice!

Fukn hell guys - appreciate what youve got. In 1980, lone punks in Swindon, Scunthorpe and Sunderland would never have connected - got internet now so easy to find people who like visceral raw music. To quote NMA 'Looking for family, searching for tribe' or something.

finally got my hands on this ep and curse of zounds, again...it's about the 10th X i've bought copies, lol...what i loved about this band (besides the message) is that Mr Lake has an ear for melody and groove, he is a brillent songwriter...crass had the message but the music was really noisy, not that i have anything against that but zounds had a way more tuneful thing happening...they had a commercial sound i/m/o...and there's nothing wrong w/that either when done the right way.
