Really struggle with cross-hatch shading, it always looks 'false' when I do it. However my other, bigger more pressing problem is - when to STOP adding shading. Maybe when the entire page is black?? ;-)
@Sealedaway6 жыл бұрын
I already knew I would like the non-linear shading since it looks the most realistic, and it's definitely the best one in this context. The cross hatching looks decent, but it has a pretty rough, almost hairy texture to it that makes it look a bit like a coconut. However, I was very surprised to see just how well the straight line approach holds up. It looks very smooth for its simplicity and gives an old, faded effect. The straight line shading was a technique I used as a kid. Seeing that it actually has some validity and potential has inspired me to get back into drawing more than ever. Dangit Crilley, you've done it again.

Ella M I heard that certain features on your phone (maybe siri or google I think?) listen in on your conversations to better know what they should advertise for you. That’s why you’ll be talking about lawnmowers and them o on your social media and end up suddenly seeing an ad about lawnmowers. I’m not really scared of it tbh I see it as a helpful little personal assistant who wants to help me. Just as long as no one decides to use that power maliciously I’m alright with it. And as long as they don’t try to idk press charges on me for jokingly saying I’d do a crime (like rob a bank or something lol)

Using a blending stump or other tools like paper towel, Q-tips will refine the shading especially for your last example. Will also help to counteract the texture of the paper from coming through, resulting in a more photorealistic image.
