Lovely how it looks so close to nature. I tend to use just two colors on flowers but I'm going to try a light base color first.

This is my second time watching this tutorial. The tutorial is very helpful. I was coloring some birds and I started with a light color then went back over parts with a little bit darker color. I could not believe how nice and how much of difference it makes in the in the color of the birds. Now I am working on tree limbs with 3 different shades of brown. Thank you so much for the tutorials.

Just finished watching one of your fabulous vids. I also very much enjoy the gradient style and fanning out to a lighter colour. I use many different tools when colouring including gels of every kind and fine nib markers. I love them all but always love the classic look of several layers and blending. Thanks so much, looking forward to watching more.

WOW, 6 videos in one night! What a compliment, thank you! Yes, I really do try to get right into it, since a lot of other coloring videos do tend to have too much talking before starting the meat of the tutorial. Thanks so much for watching! ;-)

Hi Jana! Thank you so much for the kind words! In short, YES!! Its so crazy that you mention this now, because I just uploaded a video this morning all about COLOR! I not only talk about the specific colors I'm using, but I've put out a project printable as well. Check it out! kzbin.info/www/bejne/d3fOqqF9nbqVgsk Thanks again and keep coloring!

Those soft colors look very beautiful. I never tried to use only soft colors although I've always loved this look. Now I have to try. Thanks for sharing and this inspiration. Can I make one little complain? When your voice and the music are on at the same time the music is a bit too loud, it's very hard to hear what you are saying. Other than that great video, please keep 'em coming. :-)
@PencilStash8 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback! I noticed that too after publishing and will definitely adjust the music volume to compensate. Can't believe I did that! Keep watching, i promise I'll fix it. Yes, try the soft colors! I've recently been trying to bit more light-handed with the pencils too to get a softer blend, so try that as well with the light colors. If you hold your pencil at more of a flat angle against the page and use light pressure, then layer color, you'll have more control of the final product. Keep watching and thanks again! Rachel

What brand of pencils are you using in this video? I think I'll make a copy of the pages I intend to color on mixed media paper and hopefully prevent the lines on the original page from muddying up my coloring. Do you think this is a good idea?
@judyortiz57458 жыл бұрын
I'm not trying to complain but the music seems to go over your voice a lot because you have a very soft tone. Your choice of music is great but just a little loud. I want to hear everything you say. You are a very good teacher. Would you tell us what some of your background in art is? You seem to be very knowledgeable. I am a subscriber for as long as you are here.

Could you explain for me what you mean by ORGANIC? Beautiful coloring by the way! I have watched all of your videos, Thanks again.
@PencilStash7 жыл бұрын
Hello Terri! Great question and I didn't realize i didn't really explain what I meant by that. By organic, I really just mean life-like. Some coloring has a cartoon feel, which is great, but when I'm trying to go for a more life-like visual, I tend to use the word organic. I also use that word when I refer to a shape that isn't right angles. Hope that helps!

Hi Rachel......so have this book and her other one called "My Mother, My Heart. Both are beautiful, unfortunately they BOTH have the problem with the black lines smearing. 😒
@PencilStash8 жыл бұрын
+Michele Johnson-Utter I have both too and have the same problem. So sad! One trick I learned, however, is if I use my faber-castell pencils instead (of the prismacolor) it seems to work better since I don't usually use a blender with the Fabre-castells. I still tip toe along those black outlines though!

PencilStash thanks for the tip....I will try that😉

Friendly note for future video’s: that background sound is sadly not so ‘background’ and not even the same volume throughout this video. It’s even louder in some parts so I lost a part of your explanation due to your otherwise very pleasant soft voice. Which is very sad because is sounds good. I have learned a lot from the most parts so great video but those little weird lapses of more volume tune out your voice at the same time. Really weird, can’t explain it beyond this but if you like, I’ll try to explain it more, just let me know if it’s not clear. Otherwise I’m a fan, you explain it well and as I said, I learned a lot so thanks!

Hi. Is there any way you can turn the music down when you're talking. It's very hard to hear you. It's not a complaint just want to hear what you say. You have a soft voice and I would rather hear you than music. Thank you for your videos.

Hello Judy! Yes, SUPER APOLOGIZES for my newbie sound quality in my first few videos. So embarrassing, haha! I am slowly getting the hang of the audio dynamics and I promise my voice in my newer videos in much higher and the music is lower :) Thanks for the feedback, I really appreciate it!
