Pendennis Castle dominates a rocky headland high above Falmouth in Cornwall. It is one of a handful of distinctive circular artillery forts built during a period of national emergency in the 1540s.
First built under Henry VIII’s programme of defensive building in the 1540s, St Mawes Castle is perhaps the best surviving example of a Henrician artillery fort.
The castle is a snapshot of its time, and visitors can still see elaborate carvings and text lauding Henry VIII on its walls. It lies on the Cornish coast on a headland directly opposite Pendennis Castle, guarding the Fal estuary for over 400 years.

Love love love the look of Pendennis castle, so beautiful. But then again St Mawes is so strategically placed and set on the estuary making it so stunning. Would love to throw the drone up around here! Very interesting to listen too, thank you for sharing this!

Depending on the range of the drone it would be something quite special to be able to get out over the river mouth and look back to get both sites in shot. Driving from one site to the other takes an absolute age. Lovely place thiugh.
