I'm impressed with how many series you've managed to finish! According to my series tracker spreadsheet, I only finished 4 but to be fair, I read 12 or 13 Discworld books and am continuing one a month until I finish. I'm at 10 left to go! Then my series tracker should move a little faster after hahaha

Longer series do make it take longer to finish series off! But you could count Discworld as separate sub-series to up your numbers :P

I'm currently focusing on finishing up series (some started many years ago, which I needed to restart). So this seems like really great progress in a year to me.

I started trying to get my series under control a few years back, it's taken me a while but now it's nice to be able to finish series not that long after starting them (as long as the author has finished writing them!) so I think it was worth the effort :) good luck on finishing up some of yours!

I read Jaran and mostly enjoyed it. But didn’t want to continue after book one. I had read what direction the story took and it wasn’t one that I was at all interested in. Do you feel like you have to complete a series once you have started it? What would be sufficient reason for you to mark a series as DNF? Last year I decided to not continue on to book three of Broken Earth after barely tolerating book two (and not finding book one clever - there were no “reveals” for me, they’d been signposted at the beginning). I initially thought I might finish book three as it was a buddy read but the more time that passed after finishing book 2, the less I cared. The trilogy is now in my pile of books to take to Arty Bees.

I'm getting better at dnfing series when they're not living up to my expectations, but it's something I need more practice in! I think I'm always too hopeful that if I loved the first book, then the later books will return to that level. I want to run some stats at some point about how often series live up to their first books for me... I think if you didn't like the second book of the Broken Earth trilogy then you're right to predict you won't appreciate the last book either. I also could've/should've stopped with the Jaran series too but after 20+ years of curiousity about the series, I couldn't let it go :P

@@paperback_cat I've finished a series out of curiosity too. Sometimes it pays off, but unfortunately too often it doesn't
